So, now that the month of the new 52 is over, what was everyone's opinions of it so far? I only got 5 titles. There are some I will be following, some I will not.

Here are the ones I got:

Batwoman # 1

I didn't like it at first. The story felt unfocused, and it didn't really seem like a good starting point for new readers (which I am). I did some research, and now I know a bit more about the character. I'll probably get the next issue. Although it perhaps the most unconventional layout I have ever seen and probably has some of the most beautiful art I have seen in a comic.

Superboy # 1

So, IGN gave this a 6.5, which I felt was totally unwarranted. I really liked it. The colors weren't that great, but that is really the only complaint. The book got me connected to the character, set up the story well, and got me interested in the next issue. I will definitely be picking up issue # 2.

Supergirl # 1

I was disappointed by this one. It just felt like one prolonged scene and it felt like it went by too quick.

Aquaman # 1

Aquaman is the butt of many jokes. However, this was actually an asset to this title. It sort of makes him an underdog, actually. I found it relate able. Also, the artwork was stunning. I will definitely be picking up # 2.

The Flash # 1

I liked it, but I'm not sure if I like it enough to get issue # 2. If # 2 gets good reviews, I might.

Overall, I think I really need to check the reviews before getting comics. I am disappointed I didn't get "I, Vampire". I would rather have got that than Flash.

So, what have your guys opinions been of the New 52?

Uhh guys complaining about retconned events, you know you can read the retconned books for, umm... FUN!!! It's not like the books are wiped out of reality and you can never read them again.

Haven't read anything of the reboot yet but I've got my titles I want to check out like Hawkman and Aquaman.

My big problem with this reboot from DC is that since Dan Dido took over as Editor In Chief was that it seems the man isn't happy after each one, and seems to keep going back and changing things over, and over again. Even in the run up to Infinite Crisis he used the Reality Punch to change certain events to get that working(Max Lord being a hater of superhumans, no longer being a robot. Hippolyta no longer being a member of the Justice Society. Krypton going back to its Silver Age version.) Now they dump the Justice Society from the DCU. Apparently, before this reboot hit the stands Mr. Dido was quite insistant many of the big events happened. Crisis On Infinite Earths. Infinite Crisis. The Final Crisis/Death of Batman. Hush. Death of Superman. Now the word is they didn't happen. I mean after the first Crisis On Infinite Earths there were some glitches that occured. Most notably with Hawkman. But those were straightened out eventually by David Goyer and Geoff Johns in the pages of JSA. Now that that series has been chucked to the wind, and it looks like Blackest Night/Brightest Day's story with the return, death, resurrection as an Air Elemental of Hawkwoman has likewise been chucked barely half a year later. It's like the Butterfly Effect where Ashton Kutcher keeps trying to fix things by going back in time ,and alter history to make things better. But ends up making a bigger mess. Hopefully, this is the last time in the next decade at least they don't try it again. One can hope. Or it'll turn out to snap back what it was last year due to another Reality Punch more likely with Dido. Pick a lane man.

Well I caved in a little and broke my vow of not reading a 52 book until I caught up with Geoff Johns' flash stuff, I blame the green lantern blu-ray. So yeah, I've read the first 3 issues of Justice League and I must say they're entertaining. Issue 2 as of now is my favorite of the series as we see Superman just PLOWING through everyone and shows how helpless batman is without the green rock. Jim Lee's art I've forgot how awesome it and it looks really good and I know some people complain about how he changed Superman's costume and well... from what I'm told it's because of the Superman heirs courtcase or something. It's on one of the Superman sites, I'll post a link to it later.

Now speaking about redesigns, let's take a look at Darkseid's:
Image

It's actually grown on me since it first appeared, I know the classic look will always be the best look but it was kind of silly if you think about it and this series is all about relaunches and what not. It kind of reminds me of blue beetle a little but if I could change it one little bit I would remove the red thingy as it looks misplace. When we see it in action it may look better and it might look even better when done by different artists.

So Young Justice is kicking ass right now, going into more fringe stories from DCU.

I especially loved Disordered with the Forever People. With my love of fringe heroes, Infinity-Man and the Forever People, are right up my ally.

It's made me want to look up more New Gods/Fourth World stuff. Sadly there's no Forever People or Infinity-Man toys, but the DCU Classics Cyclotron looks alot like him and can easily be customized. Now Im on the prowl for a Forager figure.

I've been reading the Brightest Day storyline and I was wondering which comics did the Osiris (sp?) storyline took place. I know the Max Lord takes place during JLI and the Jade story was in Justice League but I can't find where his took place.
I was mentioned in the SciFi Japan article about the appearence of extras on the Godzilla vs. Megalon DVD.

Tell me, what do you think of Brightest day? I finished it finally last month and while the ending KIND OF got spoiled because of this comic news show I watch and the back of volume 3(VERY bad move DC  ) I still enjoyed it but probably would of geeked out a lot with the ending of the book.

I thought it was pretty good. Now that I have all three volumes I'm going to read them as one. A couple of the plot twists I didn't see coming. I also read the Brightest Day Green Lantern book, about their hunt for the Entities. It's also very good. I would recommend that one if you can get it.

Opps. I meant during the Brightest Day storyline. Sorry, I should have been more specific.

DC cancels 6 of the New 52 titles:
http://www.google.com/url?q=http://www. ... 5emwUvpbUg

But launches 6 more... WTF?

Im upset OMAC is getting canceled, Ive been reading it. It was getting good and the art was a good nod to Kirby. But Im excited Earth 2 and World's Finest is getting put out. I liked Earth 2 and the JSA.

THE RAVAGERS – Writer: Howard Mackie. Artist: Ian Churchill. Spinning off from TEEN TITANS and SUPERBOY, this series finds four superpowered teens on the run and fighting against the organization that wants to turn them into supervillains.

Soo.....DC is making it's own Runaways?

Doesnt shock me.

Marvel has fringe books, but these fringe books have reason, good writing and a universe of support behind them. Runaways came out of no where but it was rooted in the Tsunami imprint trying to bring in readers ages 12-18 into anime and young adult novels. It evolved into a great fringe book. Marvel hit a bullseye.

DC has a scatter-gun and shoots at the target and no matter where it hits, publishes a book and cancels it in 12 issues or so... they USED to care. Example...LEGION was a great book, then it turned into REBELS and it started to suck. But when it came back before Blackest Night, it was damn good again.

I'm bummed OMAC is getting canned. I was loving that series.

I bet it's getting canned and combined with the Frankenstein comic.

Sadly, with OMAC going away I only subscribe to:
Green Lantern
Green Lantern Corps
Green Lantern New Guardians
Red Lanterns
Savage Hawkman
The Ray (and it's only 4 issues)
Legion Lost
Legion of Superheroes

Think I might add Earth 2 and World's Finest but GL family is going downhill very fast.

I confused about the whole Green Lantern and the reboot. So pretty much little to nothing was changed in the Green Lantern mythos when the giant reboot happened?

This whole reboot still confuses me a little bit. I wish they would clarify what events happened or not. But sometimes I'm not hard to confuse.

Green Lantern is special...

DC claims the GL family hasnt changed. But it has. Guy didnt recognize the Martian Manhunter, who said he was fro Stormwatch, a WildStorm title that was rebooted and merged into canon with New Earth.

Trust me, Tim, it's VERY confusing and DC is skreeonk over their titles so badly. COIE was written to fix the golden age era problems with continuity. I expect a new COIE to happen soon. Flashpoint was like a baby COIE.

Far as I know, GL follows the exact same history as it did before UNLESS a New 52 title or character is involved. Example, Hal is remembered being Parallax who reignited Earth's sun and battled Superman and Mongul, but he doesnt know Superman in The New 52 JLA but isnt the same character as in Green Lantern.

It's as confusing as Legion of Superheroes was 10 years ago.

Everything that happened in GL/GLC history HAPPENED but whenever someone OUTSIDE the GL Family comes into it, it gets skreeonk up.

Only 2 titles are untouched from pre-Flashpoint - Savage Hawkman and the GL Family of comics.
