Which film would you upgrade?

If you could make it so a kaiju film had a bigger budget or came up with improved special effects/casting/plot, which one would you choose?

Space Amoeba. I loved this movie when I was younger. I would also love to see a Matango remake.

Godzilla vs Megalon. It's entertaining, but with a few alterations, it could be better.

King Kong vs Godzilla. If only to have a better Kong suit.

Seconded. Something along the lines of what Rick Baker did in King Kong '76

I know Kong's roar in that movie was certainly more impressive than the one used in GvsK.

I saw the movies at around the same time, so my dream match-up would be the suit and roars of Godzilla 1985 vs the suit and roars of King Kong 1976, with possible tweaks being longer arms for Kong so it can knuckle walk and a bit of animatronics for Godzilla's face so it has a little more expression to rival Kong's.

I kinda agree with this. If it had more Hollywood-grade special effects and a better script, the movie could've been at least reasonably well received. It wouldn't have been this masterpiece, but a good and enjoyable flick.

Instead it gets confused with GINO.

G2k seemed at least to be trying to be a film worthy of American release. It had grandiose camera angles and perspective that went a long way toward the illusion of Godzilla's and the miniatures' scale. The only real eyesores that stuck out at me at the theater was the terrible CGI for the Orga ship and Godzilla swimming underwater , and the bad matting depicting Godzilla coming ashore. I totally bought the helicopter flying by to take shots at the monster as it looked up at it. Of course then again, there was that bad stationary shot of the one helicopter firing at Godzilla. The movie kind of started out with the best effects shots, like Godzilla slamming its hand down as the car was thrown into reverse, or the one of Godzilla's silhouette in the background with the car in the foreground and the giant feet smashing into the alleyway as people in the foreground run in panic. Its too bad the rest of the movie was not as visually impressive. Orga jumping looked weird, slow when it jumps, then moving through the air fast, then slow again as it landed. What?

Wow, yeah... Godzilla Final Wars, obviously. Remove the mutant bullshit and give every superbeast some time to shine. Never in Godzilla history has the ball been so horribly dropped. 14 monsters?? Sweet! The Gotengo battles Manda again? Hell yeah! The Xiliens return! Nerdgasm! I can't wait, this is going to be the film DAM just missed being...

And then you saw it. And you couldn't unsee it. F*** you Kitamura.

The Heisei films in general could definitely have benefited from more time, money, and better scripting.

Godzilla vs. Megalon and Godzilla vs. Gigan could have benefited if only to improve the SPFX and avoid using stock footage.

Godzilla 2000 is another film that really could use better special effects. GMK could probably be included here as well.

Megaguirus. Give me a better flying bug, and it would bump up my opinion of the movie a bit. It still wouldn't be one of the best, but I think Megaguirus deserved better treatment than she got.

I would get rid of the time travel stuff in Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah. Then I'd have the Heisei series end with Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla. Then I'd have the American Godzilla directed by Jan de Bont. Oh well...

It had a huge budget (relatively speaking).

Hm... the smartest anwser would be SpaceGodzilla or Final Wars, but I'm gonna say Destoroyah. I really do like it, but it could be seriously better, especially for how meaningful an entry it is.

It sure did, but man was it misused. I'm pretty much proposing a complete overhaul of the story and replacements for some of the actors (like the friggin Keanu Reeves lookalike). I think most of the monster redesigns are spectacular, but I'd use the kaiju a helluva a lot more... And I'd redesign Keizer Ghidorah and Ratzilla.

Some things I would redo:

* I like the idea of the alien invasion, so 'd keep that but that ridiculously over the top Controller would have to go.
* Gigan, Monster X, Hedorah, and (new monster) Megalon would be the big bads. They would be more of a threat, and have more prominent roles (aside from MX).
* Monster X and Ghidorah would be separate monsters. Keizer Ghidorah will show up as the "Final Boss" type monster, but it will be him in the meteor, showing up after the four big bads are defeated. I imagine a cross between Keizer and Desghidorah... I did the four legged thing.
* Monsters in general will feature more prominently.
* The plot of the Gotengo leading Goji around the world will stay intact, but Goji will break the Xilien control over the monsters instead of slaughtering them. King Seesar, Rodan, and Anguirus in particular will face the four baddies at the Xilien base.

Those are just a few of the changes I'd make. And yes, it will likely raise the budget considerably. Either that or relocate some of the "mutant bullshit" budget.
