^I agree.

As much as I like the darker Turtles, it was the 80's cartoon that got me into Ninja Turtles. I still enjoy watching them because of the nostalgia factor. It was that cartoon that put Turtles on the map and people need to remember that. It's the same with Batman for me. It was the Adam West version that got me into the Dark Knight. Doesn't mean I don't dig the dark stuff.
I was mentioned in the SciFi Japan article about the appearence of extras on the Godzilla vs. Megalon DVD.

NEVER! ALLLAH!!!!! *suicide bombs you both!*

Yes I know the turtles were originally a parody(the first cover was a parody of ronin) but remember it was originally intended as a one-shot that got quite popular(it sold a million copies I believe) and thus a series got spawned out of it. I kind of like the original turtles but I've been meaning to watch the original series to voice my opinion instead of my dark equals good one. But from what I've read from what people said, the comics still seemed pretty dark with the whole foot clan war that caused several innocent bystanders to be killed but I won't deny it they if it weren't for the orignal show they wouldn't be as popular as they are now. But I still perfer the newer series mainly because of it's story telling, it's Continuity(something that the original show seems to miss from what I heard), being dark, and having a roster of villians that aren't quite laughable and are actually intiminating case and point Shredder, Baxter stockman, and leatherhead. That's all the villians I know that were in the original show and the 03 one. And Kasey plays a bigger role in the newer series then in the 80's which if I recall right is like 3 episodes... Plus the creators of the comics didn't really like the old show that much and liked the newer one. God I'm such a fanboy. :3

Here's the DVD review at World's Finest:

http://www.wfdvdreport.com/?action=full ... =1&id=1424

It's stamped in stone: it's the cut version. I kept hoping that it wasn't true and they would surprise us with the uncut version. That's what I get for hoping.

I'm still torn about buying it.

So what do you guys think of the first movie?

I love it and from what I heard it's quite a great adaptation.... Of the comics!

I love it. One of my favorite movies. While I enjoyed it as a kid I actually liked it better when I was older and got the darker stuff and how close it was to the comics.

It loosely adapts the first issue and the arc of the Turtles' departure from and return to NYC, interweaving the stories and cutting out the digressions. It also incorporates a lot of material from the animated series: April as a reporter, the colored headbands, the pizza obsession, the catch phrases, etc. It's honestly the best incarnation of the Turtles, adapting both the comic and the cartoon successfully into the film medium. Too bad the sequels fell short.

Does anyone know if the CGI film is a sequel of the live action films? And if the coming live action film will also take place in this universe?

Also, what does imply Turtles Forever being a "cut" version? Does it lack story or violence?

it's assumed that it is, as we can see items from the previous films during the ending. And I didn't know films had reproductive fluids. Chances are, it's going to be a reboot and starting all over again. Or maybe not, we'll have to wait for the show's 25th anniversary for that... That or wait til 2011.

What they mean by cut is something were taken out and chances are it was for the run time, not for being too violent.

From the Technodrome Forum, these are all of the scenes that are cut from Turtles Forever:

http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=29207

Of them, #3, #10 and #16 are the ones I really miss from being on the DVD. It is inexcusable that Nickelodeon couldn't have given us the uncut version (although at least it IS widescreen, despite saying fullscreen on the box). But I bought this in the hopes that Nickelodeon will finish releasing Season 3, the first half of Season 4, as well as BTTS on dvd (and continue where Funimation disgustingly left off).

^So it is in widescreen? Well, that's somewhat of a plus. Several of the cut scenes help make the story make sense more, which is another reason I'm disappointed.

All I want to know is what the reason was for not releasing the uncut version; i.e. they couldn't get the uncut version, which I doubt.

I think we all would like an explaination on why Nick did not release the full uncut version of Turtles Forever on DVD; other than they're lazy MFers.

I can only assume that Nickelodeon was only interested in selling this dvds to kids and weren't worried about the few hundred hardcore TMNT fans who wanted the uncut version of this film. Why go to the extra trouble of including the uncut version when they know kids will buy it with or without the cut scenes? Of course I don't understand this logic, but Nickelodeon clearly is out of touch with the reality that TMNT's adult fans make up well over half of the entire fanbase.

And yes, it is in widescreen.

Honestly I could have lived without widescreen, a decent cover art, and special features if they'd have just given us the full movie. That's all I really wanted. Not because eight extra minutes is really all that precious, but without it, there are some distracting plot holes. If this is how Nick is going to treat TMNT, then be afraid people.

I was thinking today about the live action films and realized how awesome those suits were. I demand NO CGI unless for necessary for certain scenes/fights for the reboot!

I would kind of like to see it a bit darker too, sort of like the comics which in themselves were originally a parody but it became a big hit that they decided to do a whole comic series about it that was dark from what I heard. And I don't want any of the cheesey/corneyness of the 80's cartoon in it unless it's not brought up so much.

So yeah, been meaning to bump this. No news on the new TMNT series or movie, so oh well but oh well not the reason I'm bumping this.

Big news was announced around April as IDW has gained the rights to all the TMNT comics and besides seeing a new series with one of the Co-creators, we'll FINALLY see a new reprinting of the classic series starting off with a nice hardcover with 11 or 12 issues and what I hope to have is those oneshot issues as well. It would also be cool to see some colored reprints but whatever. I'm happy IDW will make everyone have the same red mask.

Now onto the other big TMNT news, season 9 IS coming to DVD finally! And let me tell you they sure took a while because I recall the last season was release in 2009. So yeah, after that we've got one series to go and we're all good for the classic series.... So how about re-releasing the newer series on DVD and a PROPER release of Turtles Forever? :D

..did you ever bother to read the original run of TMNT? After issue 9 it went wonky as hell. Even the new Mirage stuff is lack luster.

Archie's TMNT Adventures is still the best comic version of TMNTs.
Wataru
TK's Resident Comic Book God & Raggedy Ann Enthusiast.
Sandy Frank dubs. All others are fail.

Hold up the yays just yet. I went onto amazon to see when it comes out and what I saw made me say skreeonk You IDW!

We're getting 8 issues in total 7 of the mainstream and Raph's one shot BUT.... IDW thought and said "Hey, why not OVER CHARGE THE FUUUUUUCK OUT OF THIS! >:D" I know it's a hardcover and all but 8 issues of a black and white comic FOR 50 BUCKS IS A CRIME! I mean really, why!? Why not just reprint the 12 issues and those one shots to equal it up to 17 or so? Atleast then it would be close to that price but no. skreeonk You IDW.

This is the most recent news that I can find.

At this rate, this movie is not coming out in 2012. I don't know what they are doing with the film, I still would want like to see Dimension X to be used for the new film. Just seeing Krang and his army from Dimension X take over NYC would be awesome. I think we need a darker movie this time.
