What about the obscure Tekken characters like Alex from Tekken 2? He never appear in anything else since then from what I can remember.

Well, the interview with Seth only spoken about SF characters. For the Tekken side, it could very well happen only time will tell.

But if it does happened then Alex won't be the one who'll come back first. It'll most likely be Orge, or possibly Devil/Angel.
Also I hope Lars Alexanderson becomes confirmed a playable character. He's now become one of my main characters.

Alex from T2 is already in the background of some stages. Lars is very likely to be including seeing his importance to T6 and how he even made it to a Naruto game adds to his fame.

And to Goji, Sick Birdie would be very funny.

How so? I'll admit that recently, I play Lars more than I do with Devil Jin in TK6. And I hope that he'll be playable in this game and like Gigan said, it does seem likely. As for Alisa, she might be in to increase the female part of the roster and because he has a unique fighting style.

Well for those of you who didn't like T6 much, they are the main characters there so unfortunately for you, those 2 are very likely, seeing the roles that have been given to them in the games and the movies that have come afterwards, Expect them.

They're very good additions to the roster with creative movesets and designs, such rich designs are expected to be given good use.

I always found Lars to be dull character. He was never inserting to me, he was like Tekken's version of Taven from Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.

Except that Taven is one of the worst character designs there is, while Lars succeeds at everything Taven failed to do.

I'll be really surprised if Gouki and Jin aren't in this game. I don't think anyone needs to worry. If anything, I think Jin is a shoe-in, while Gouki is highly likely, not but guaranteed.
