EOTK: What Battles Would You Like To See?

I have been working on a new fanfic, known as Era of the Kaiju (although the title may change to Dawn of the Kaiju in the future). Basically, its going to be long. As in a series of novels long for the entire story. With that said, I have a lot of work ahead of me, but expect Part One: Island of Monsters, to be out by the end of next summer.

This thread is something that I have thought up of recently. In this insanely long story, which Kaiju would you like to see battle each other? The list of potential monsters is huge: Every single Gamera kaiju and almost every single Toho kaiju, with the exceptions including King Kong, Frankenstein, a baby Godzilla of any kind, and Zone Fighter monsters. (although this may change.) There will also be some Godzilla video game monsters, like Krystalak and Balkzardan, as well as some unused monsters like Bagan, the Lightning Bug (under a different name), and Mogu. There will also be some non-Japanese monsters sprinkled around here and there, those of which confirmed so far are Reptilicus, Rhedosaurus, Giant Ants, and Immoogie. There will also be Zilla Jr and C-Rex involved as well, with possibly more Godzilla: The series monsters coming.

So, which monsters do you think should duke it out and why?

Edit: I should probably note that most monster versions (Godzilla Showa, etc) do not apply, with the exception of Gigan, Ghidorah, Moguera, and Mechagodzilla.

I'd love to see, or in this case read, a three way battle; it's ashame there's going to be no appearence from Kong as I think a triple threat of epic preportions between King Kong, Gamera and Godzilla would be a kaiju fan's wet dream!!! Imagine the carnage...

I can safely say that there will be a fight between Destoroyah and Spacegodzilla, and there is a good chance that Grand Ghidorah could end up fighting SG as well. However, as for Grand Ghidorah fighting Destoroyah, the two work for very similar goals in this story, so the chances of them fighting are slim, but can still happen.

Also, an update on the monster list: There is a good chance that a baby Godzilla will make it into the story.

@Dave McDave: There is still a chance Kong can make it in. In fact, I would say he has a better chance than Frankenstein or a Zone Fighter character. The biggest problem I'm finding is trying to fit Kong into a universe that is based mostly around Godzilla and Gamera kaiju.

Y'know, including him wouldn't be hard, it's just making him as relevent to the plot as something of his iconic status should be! Personally, I'd go with Skull Island being a known island already, and with the UN trying to establish it as a reserve for all kaiju, but their initial attempts to relocate lesser monsters to the area wake the God-Ape himself from his centries long slumber as he senses rivallery to his territory. If that initial kaiju was Ebirah it would also add a little fan nod as originally his film was to be a Kong film!! From there I'm sure Kong would then sense new threats in this age and go out to stop them, however here you could add Miki Saegusa in the Fay Wray role as someone who probes his mind with her abilities, only for his great interlect to probe back and he is sidetracked by her. Later the UN could use this to their advantage, making Kong a part of the human resistance, at least for the time being...

I don't know what your story's gonna be like so I'm not sure if any of this'll fit, but I think this is one of many possible ways Kong could be added. Now, what about Gorgo...?

Haha, yeah I knew you were joking. I should probably let you guys know that Bagan won't be in God Mode like some stories. (Bagan vs Everyone for example).

I'm very inrigued by this, and wowed by the undertaking; if it was me I'd estew the six parts and use a narrative timeline approach by splitting the battles into their sections spaced between scenes of exposition, all counting down to when the big friend finally arrives, allowing for there to be a little bit of a driving force...

I can't wait to see how you work this one out though, dude; are they all teaming up or completely seperate?

Well, it depends on the monster. For example, the Monster Islanders are going to behave your basic giant monster. They aren't nessasarly on a team, the Kumonga will attack anyone and anything, Rodan gets by on a nice diet of Ookondoru and Kamacuras, and Anguirus is overly territorial. They are not without conflicts. However, on the opposite spectrum, the radiation leaking Oodako hang out near Godzilla's island lair for protection from stronger predators, and in return, end up feeding Godzilla with their leaked radiation. Some monsters will form allegiances with eachother to take down bigger threats, and these allegiances may be temporary or long lasting.

In the case of other fractions, like the Guardian Monsters, the whole teamwork thing can work differently. The Guardians, for example, are extreamly intelligent, and their purpose in life is to protect the earth from extream threats with their own abilities and powers. Very rarely, if ever, would they turn against eachother, one exeption being Battta, the Guardian of Death, the caretaker of balance in life. While not nessesairly evil, he is very aggressive, and his tactics often come into conflict with the much more peaceful Mothra, Guardian of Life. For example, Battra thinks that humans are very overpopulated (which we are) and believes that the only way to stop this is to... well... you know.

So what "team" a monster is on depends on their personality, intellegence, and goals. Destoroyah may work with Orochi, but they turn against eachother. King Ghidorah may be more like Grand Ghidorah, but is under mind control.

Y'know I could totally see the alien forces thinking they have Ghidorah under control but in reality it's him using his power to reverse the signal, therefore subtly controlling them and influencing their decisions,ultimately using them to weaken planets ready for his descent while pretending to be just a minion; pretty interesting twist, especially if Ghidorah's played as powerful as his early Showa interpretation, being able to take on multiple enemies at once without breaking into so much as a sweat!!

Of course, that has changed by now, in order to give the top extraterrestrial medal to a... not so popular character. But don't worry about King Ghidorah. He is going to be 100% Showa, only more powerful. Two or three monsters won't seal the deal against him this time.

Actully, this is probably a good time to mention the continuity. This story takes place in it's own universe, a fourth series if you will. The only canon from the movies is Gojira, and like the millennium series did so many times, there is a catch. No, he didn't survive. No, his bones didn't either. However, there are a very small amount of survivors who actully saw the creature, and as a consequence, to everyone but certain branches of government around the world, the whole thing is an urban legend. The official word is an accident pertaining to a nuclar weapon.Very few people know the true story.

Oh, and one other thing. The 54 Godzilla was a female, Godzilla's mate in fact.

Talk about psychic; when I was initially drafting my own continuity the '54 Godzilla was also going to be the mate of the Godzilla from the rest of the series, but I soon changed it to make the Big G a standalone abberation; a one off of his type...

Even so, I like that we're on the same wavelength here. Looking forward to this story more and more, dude!!
