Why can't we post introductions?

There is one thing about Toho Kingdom that is unlike any forum I've ever seen: were not allowed to make introduction threads. How is this considered "spam"? What's wrong with letting people just say "hi" and make their new presence known? Why was the introduction thread (inconvieniently) locked?

I just don't understand.

I've been to many boards where introduction threads aren't allowed. It isn't exclusive here.

Because there isn't a real point to the post than saying hi. Why waste space with a thread when it can go in a simple post in an existing thread?

This has never made sense to me either. There's enough wasted space and garbage posts going on that welcome threads ought to be OK. Or at the very least, one official welcome topic.

I mean for skreeonk's sake, we have a 500-odd page What ruined your day thread, a 400-odd page What made your day thread, and watsy just opened a Whatcha do today thread just to pick up the scraps from what people didn't consider important enough for either of those other two. What's wrong with saying hello to a newbie every so often?

And an intro STICKY would be nice. I can understand why a thread for EVERY person wouldnt work. It would be 20-30 responses saying one of three things:

"Hi! Welcome and follow the rules!"
"Hi."
"Warning, personal opinions on TK arent allowed."

AD's a former staff member and I doubt that gets any leeway anymore with anyone but me.

Actually, I do. I would have never noticed the thread was made. Now I can start brooding on whether I want to lock it or not earlier.

I don't see the point of them either. Introduction posts are essentially the same thing regardless of the newcomer ('I have been a Godzilla fan since my childhood...watched all 28 movies etc etc') and it would be alot more natural for members to simply reveal their personality through their posts.

Oh I agree. If there can be such infantile topics like My Little Pony being discussed, why not a welcome a thread?

I don't see how it could hurt. If we can have topics like "Wataru's favorite movie" or "Movies you don't intend on seeing anytime soon" I don't see why we can't have an introduction thread.

And 90% of the posts in the Godzilla 2012 forum AREN'T wastes of time and space?
