Now, I'm siding with Mike for once. I think using Ifukube's theme is insulting. Insulting to Godzilla's character, his series, Ifukube, and the filmmakers themselves.
So, nyah. skreeonk off.

Fun fact: THe original Godzilla roar wasn't used in the American movie either. I believe they didn't have the rights for it.

THANK YOU.
I'd be all for LP MAYBE using a classic Godzilla track if Toho themselves hadn't already beaten that idea into the ground by using stock Ifukube tracks (many from the same sources) in 6 out of the 9 films of the past 30 years that weren't scored by Ifukube. That's gross overkill.

Heck, one of the biggest criticisms of the Nolan Batman films is not using Danny Elfman's theme.

See, here's the thing...Ifukube only scored 11 out of 28 Godzilla movies. 11 out of 28. Many other composers have left their mark on the franchise without having to fall back on Ifukube's music. John Williams scored all 6 Star Wars feature films. He's the ONLY composer associated with those movies. Ifukube may be the most famous Godzilla composer but he's certainly not the only one. He didn't even score half the films for Christ's sake.
What Toho was doing in the '90s and throughout the Millennium series was indeed overkill. We don't need the exact same Godzilla theme ripped from older movies and used whenever Godzilla pops out of the water, even if it clashes horribly with another composers style.

One of the most overused clichés to ever grace the silver screen? Please no.

You say that like it's a bad thing. Not every cliche is bad, in fact some become cliches because there so loved.
