I enjoyed this issue.
Santo's art is the one thing that's still holding me back from calling it great but its grown on me alot since he first took over. I like the way he handles most monster but Godzilla is hits or miss alot for me. When Godzilla is drawn with his spines in frame its a hit. His frontal sketches are where I call it a miss.

What I think would help his art work alot, would be to stop putting the monsters in blank bright coloured backgrounds
The writing is doing a good job in placing Godzilla in the real world and the art totally misses on the opportunity to help sell that.

Like this one here where its a bright yellow background. Shots of Giant monsters in city landscapes are some of favourite parts of the Godzilla universe.
Image

A really nice panel in this issue is when Woods is watching KG attack Godzilla and you can see a full perspective on the size of KG in comparison to Godzilla, specifically the wings.

And a cliffhanger ending is always appreciated. Will the twins be able to control Godzilla?? The last few issue I didn't think so, but now that he's knocked out. It could go either way.

I'm exciting for the suspected hiatus after 12 because I have a strong feeling there will be a changing of the guards (replacing santos).
The dead animals in KOM are a result of high powered signals sent from aliens,to awaken the dormant monsters. Animals with similar senses are overloaded from the signal &drop dead. That way much of the world will be destroyed in prep for the invasion.

^Beware. Even though you're making actual, God-honest points, you're going to get called a raging fanboy...by raging fanboys. Just sayin', look out, it's like a fascist police state around here sometimes when it comes to having non-popular opinions...

^ Most active posters here seem accepting of non popular opinions. Or at least they don't always complain about them.

StonedHope has some good points that I agree with. But not everyone HAS to agree with them. People could easily come up with opposite, possibly better points. I'm guessing (just guessing) you're still sore about so many people disliking a comic that you personally enjoy and defend the honor of.

On topic: I'm kinda liking where the series is going now. I don't plan on buying any more comics due to both money problems and disinterest, but it's still a good way to shoot from Powell's work.

The lack of background in the posted page is disappointing. It's the thing that makes me like it the least.

Once again, I'm defending the story (to a degree) as being enjoyable, but I think that the art is bringing the book down. That's not too extreme a complaint, is it? I'm still spending money on the thing, and I hope to see improvement.

At least I don't misquote or attribute feelings to others as you're doing to me. Be snide all you want; I've never, ever said I love the comic or the art or blah, blah, blah. Please, stick you're fingers in your ears (or eyes, I guess...) if you want, but please, don't ever contradict everything that I spend time thinking and typing just because you want to be pedantic. It doesn't help back up your argument and what exactly do you mean by this--

"Most of the people here have been civil in their criticism- i think you are the one who needs a change in attitude."

Are you in denial? Are we on the same forum? Can you not scroll just a few posts up from here and see some one call the artwork "epic shit"???

If your outburst was aimed only at wataru, you definitely made it sound as though it was aimed at everyone.

I noted that most people have been pretty civil with their criticism, and your outburst about how everybody should 'just write their own comic' over mostly civil criticism obviously annoyed me to no end.

Wow. Just. Wow. Are you for real?

I've never, ever said no one has the right to criticize this comic. EVER. In fact, I've openly welcomed and responded to it.

Let me go ahead and put words in your mouth, good sir: You don't think any one has the right to defend it because your opinions are better. That about right?

Um, yeah. Except going 'Jesus. Just make your own comic buys. Noone makes you buy this book, so what gives? What's the big deal?' comes off as provocative and gives an appearance as unwillingness to accept the fact that some people dislike the book, and saying if they dislike it they should leave. That about right?

The series is getting great now, I'd recommend jumping back on to anyone who quit.

Shh, Santos is trying to get the Showa feel without making it entirely Showa. :P Nah, just kidding. Couldn't help myself that time. XD

Yeah, what about your ability to accept the fact that some people LIKE the book? What then? How is this different?

I just don't even know what to say anymore; everything that you accuse me of doing I can accuse you, Wataru, and a couple of others of doing the same. It's a stupid wheel. You say I'm being provocative, but obviously something provoked me, correct? We've all been jerks about this at one point or another. You're picking at one, latest post of mine and ignoring the pages and pages of thought out, non-provocative points that I've made just to do what? Make me sound unreasonable and irate, right? Just because I'm frustrated that I'm banging my head against a brick-wall simply saying it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Somehow, that's me being an ass and everyone else is in the right, huh? Everyone else is being TOTALLY reasonable and even-handed in their critiques, right? I'm just attacking anyone with an opinion, right? Everyone (yourself included) are just so understanding and accepting of MY different opinion, right?

Yeah right.

Whatever. I guess I'm just as big an asshole if I point out that I started this all out, way back when, by simply telling people to give it a chance and see where it's going and now? Now everyone is agreeing it's starting to get better and pick up, right?

I seriously can't win for losing around here.

Nope. :P

Baaaah, dammit. I forgot to pick my copy up from the comic shop today! :(

Honestly, I have no problem with the art. Not. One. Bit.

How exactly do I say this... Its art. I know, art can be critiqued, and not pleasing to the eye, but the thing I like about it is that it is the artists interpretation of everything.
It's abstract. It's different.

I have no idea how to express why I like it. Really, I can't, but I see no problem with it. It is fine to me. Yeah, there are some goofs (Anguirus missing a horn the main one I can think of), but in all complete fairness, there are some pretty..... Cheap, so to speak, methods used in some of the films that I think are, honestly, worse than this.

Anyway, picking up #10 tomorrow when I return my girlfriend's phone. So, yay.

The issue was good. Now I can confirm the fact that King Ghidorah needs to be more badass.

Of course, there are issues that could be worked for the better, but at least some parts of the battles actually seem like battles.

This issue was great and fun, to put it simply.

PROS:
Monster fights!
No boring/needles dialogue!
Cliffhanger!
The 2-page spreads with MG,KG, and the Big G look great!

CONS:
Would have wanted more Ghidorah action!
Some of Santos/ panels look awkward or...unprofessional.

TOTAL: 9/10!

D'aww, thank you. I like roses and fine wine. ;)

Just read through this one again...

Wow. A lot better than what we've gotten in the past, and I gotta say, pages 4,5, and 6 look awesome. There are a few other snippets in the comic that look awesome, like the crusher cable scene.

Overall, if you haven't picked up this because of the past... Hop back on board.

Got issue 10, and man. That's a fight worthwhile. Finally, someone that can write an entire fight and make it satisfying. Man, I have all faith in Ciarmella whether the series goes grim dark or not. Shame that Ghidorah didn't do as much as I wanted... But then again, he just might wake up again. :D And the twins! OMG, man! They actually looked awesome in that particular panel! Man, not a lot of story, but ya know I don't mind that. Pretty beast. :)n

I'd appreciate something original for the cover...
