Why are people acting like it's totally, absolutely necessary for this movie to have Ifukube music? Not even every Japanese Godzilla movie has his themes and the ones that shoehorn his stuff into another composer's work makes it stick out like a sore thumb.

Ifukube's Godzilla themes are classic, but if he's not scoring the film (and since he's dead he obviously cant) I don't want to keep hearing his music in newer movies.

It's GODZILLA'S THEME SONG, people! It needs to be in this movies even if only in the credits. They should play it at the end of the credits and do like marvel and include an extra cookie moment that alludes to a sequel. IMO

I agree with tyler.
Tyler wrote:I think the movie should have its own Godzilla theme(s), but for the end bring in Ifukube.

Forcing in old music means the music department has to give up a level of creative control.
The dead animals in KOM are a result of high powered signals sent from aliens,to awaken the dormant monsters. Animals with similar senses are overloaded from the signal &drop dead. That way much of the world will be destroyed in prep for the invasion.

It'd be cool to hear. I just hope they would find the $ to pay for the rights to it (since Toho would probably charge A LOT for it's use) worth it.

The music could be property of the Ifukube estate for all we know.

But that's neither here nor there.

Lets not bring back Ifukube at all. He music is great, but the soundtracks that strike me the most are the ones that aren't Ifukube's.

I thought both of Oshima's Mechagodzilla scores were fantastic and neither of them use any Ifukube themes. Sato's scores were incredible too (sans Godzilla Raids Again, which is pretty bland) and aren't any Ifukube tunes in there either.

This movie doesn't need Ifukube tracks.

Ko Otani's synth heavy work for GMK and the grandiose and operatic score by Reijiro Koroku for The Return of Godzilla are two of my favorites and neither really draw from Ifukube's vast library of material.

Ifukube's association with the franchise doesn't necessitate the inclusion of his work.

In fact I think it's an insult to the man to insist that his themes keep getting used not only well after his retirement, but years after his death. The classic Godzilla themes popping up in later movies that were being scored by other composers would take me right out of the films.
