Monster Discussion #10: Maguma
I used to be a lot more optimistic and outgoing, believe it or not. I used to actually be passionate about this stuff.

Goo goo g'joob.RESPECT THIS WALRUS. RESPECT IT.
It's a shame Maguma got shafted from DAM. He would've been a badass addition to Godzilla's allies.

"The time has come," Maguma said,
"To talk of many things:
Of tusks, and ships, and laser-guns,
Of meteors, and risks,
And why Antartica is boiling hot,
And whether time is it."

If by interesting you mean, "flopped around for 5 minutes and then blew up", you'd be entirely correct.HayesAJones wrote:An interesting monster, that's for sure.

What awesome insane stories could this walrus tell us? He was killed before he has the chance, he must have been so wise!

Nah, Maguma should've been the Bulgaria to King Ghidorah's Germany.JVM wrote: It's a shame Maguma got shafted from DAM. He would've been a badass addition to Godzilla's allies.

Re: Monster Discussion #10: Maguma
I like Maguma, he's a giant walrus, what's NOT to love? I love the close up shots of the costume right before/while it's getting shot up by the VTOL, er I mean, the crew's plane at the antarctic. The only time the Maguma suit looks really bad is the (luckily brief) long shot of the costumed actor crawling across the snow. Probably one of Toho's more unconvincing suitmation creations...with all that said, GORATH is an amazing film. It's a shame U.S. distributors felt the need to cut his scenes from the U.S. cut of the film.

I'll gladly eat crow if it doesn't turn out that way....but at this point it feels painfully obvious, as it has for months.

I haven't seent he film either, but I have seen the film clip with Maguma. It's a good monster despite the brief screen time.
I've got a good mind to join a club and beat you over the head with it.

If Chuck Norris had a pet, it would be Maguma, Maguma is Chuck Norris' loyal companion. They control the universe and world togethor.
On a serious note, a kick ass monster who deserves another chance.

I don't know what the big deal is? I mean he isn't even scary looking, in fact he makes Godzooky look good. Though that last on may have been tooooo mean.

Don't talk about Godzooky dude. Nobody's seen him since he got caught in '84 dealing behind a preschool...gojira012 wrote:I don't know what the big deal is? I mean he isn't even scary looking, in fact he makes Godzooky look good. Though that last on may have been tooooo mean.

Chuck Norris won't be happy when he hears Maguma was compared to Godzooky.

Re: Monster Discussion #10: Maguma
Yeah, but it would mess up the series's continuity....maybe. Anguirus might not have had another movie appearance. But perhaps he would be a more useful ally, since he is more aggressive?JVM wrote:It's a shame Maguma got shafted from DAM. He would've been a badass addition to Godzilla's allies.
Totally. I could see some company releasing it on DVD and have the Americanized version instead of the original. THAT would be terrible.Goji wrote:It's a shame U.S. distributors felt the need to cut his scenes from the U.S. cut of the film.
