No Images in Signatures

This was one change we wanted in the shift to the new format, as images (especially animated gifs) were slowing down browsing of the old forums and were generally making it harder to read topics.

I will be honest that I'm pretty dead set on the decision, but people can still use this topic to voice their opinion and if the argument is strong enough I will of course overturn this rule.

Problem is, that's hard to enforce. We used to have a similar rule for avatar and dimensions, but enforcing that was a headache. Disabling signature images is an absolute thing that doesn't require any additional moderation.

I might be open to a "no animated approach", although still am smitten by the idea of no images at all and just reading posts. If there is enough of an outcry, again, I will of course reconsider.

The banning of entire signature pics is not just flawed, its downright retarded.

I can live without the animated one I had, but at least let us use the simple ones we all love. If you have trouble enforcing it...

Get some admins/mods that won't have trouble enforcing.

Again, I'm open to it (as much as I would prefer not to), and at the moment it sounds like a fair number want to see them back. I won't reach a decision until later though, but if outcry continues as it is I might go back on my previous "ruling".

I think a forum's main draw should be the topics being discussed, so I don't see why people are throwing a fit about their signatures. The lack of images in signatures gives the forum a more streamlined look, and I believe it is for the better. Those begging for customization have their avatars to toy with, so why complain? It's your personality that makes you a unique poster, not your signature!

I think this might be a good time to mention that the "Dunce" feature actually won't be coming back. It has been replaced with a warning system that automatically goes away in 90 days after citation, assuming they don't get more warnings and are banned before that point.

I'd go as far to say remove sigs completely, makes the forum look much cleaner IMO.

That's how I feel about it. We have a classy avatar for it too. Just think, Anthony, all that time years ago wasted making that avatar! You could have spent those precious minutes eating half a Slim Jim!
