Here's hoping Ciaramella can bring decency back to this series.

Just got the 9th issue. While I can handle "small" art inconsistencies (I consider Anguirus' lack of nasal horn to be small), I'm still trying to make sense out of the inconsistent bit with Steven Woods' story. Aside from that, I actually feel confident that Ciarmella can actually be able, like what Lord Gappa and Destroyer have made mention of, make this series good. Something tells me that Eric was just setting things up for him rather than to go into much character... Except for Steven and Allie. They're exceptions. And also happy to see that Godzilla and Mechagodzilla will be duking it out again. And somehow, the fight with Anguirus and Mechagodzilla actually felt GOOD. It was short, but good at the same time. It wasn't like Eric's fights where they just ended off panel or abruptly because of a mighty nuke explosion, it was satisfying. Maybe because the fight was with Anguirus, I dunno. But PRAY that they bring Kumonga back. I'm starting to get more agitated at the fact that they haven't brought him back in 3 issues. Rodan was out for about 2 issues (technically 1 if you count his brief appearance in issue 3). But at least Santos' art is actually getting better. I think I can live with him being the artist for KOM now. And Allie is such a doll, isn't she? :D And I LOVE that opening. Heck, it actually felt good to hear Steven (assuming here) narrate with this new guy. Man, the atmosphere of the grim dark hopelessness is there and not there. I guess because Mechagodzilla is back with human control, gives the humans some hope. Anyway, I had some fun with the series with Eric, but I think this guy just might make the series what is SHOULD be. When I heard the change of artists, I doubted that he wasn't going to be as good as Hester. At least not for the debut issue for Victor. But when I heard about the new writer, I was actually glad. It's weird, but interesting. But all hoping that Jason Ciarmella will bring the series to life, and that Victor Santos will continue to improve.

Again, I agreed. Also to make mention, I feel good to see Godzilla and Mechagodzilla going to duke it out, this time with hope and a thrive for revenge. But it would be CRAZY to see King Ghidorah wake up then duel BOTH Goji-creatures. Man, that's going to be crazy if they do that.

ALSO

I think I found a rather reasonable fill... Now of course there are still holes and major character redesigns, but hey.

Anyway, this is all in theory. Now what I can say is that when we are first introduced to Steven, he's in a city. Not L.A. 3 weeks later, but a small city. He is with his mother (and father). Sounds like that city... However, that's when another hole digs itself out. We can clearly see Steven riding a fancy new vehicle, and I have no clue on how it is even possible to connect that with Godzilla's raid in the small city (now that I think about it, is he from Sacramento? Aware that he is the first battalion out of Sacramento, but does that means he lives there? And given that he mentions that he lives in the northern part of California, it would make sense. Either way, that doesn't solve this whole hole issue. You know, I think I just found myself back at square one again. Crap. Had he gotten the news of his parents deaths later... Or, you know, if Godzilla raided Sacramento at night since he finds Allie in the morning. Bah, I give up. But at least I can guess where Steven lives, and that's that. :P

Speaking of home towns, what state did Allie come from again?

finally read it

I think the best part of the last few issues is that its finally felt as if the story has gone somewhere. Instead of just random monsters popping up and stepping on buildings, there's actually been a coherent story that's been progressing by the issue and by the page.

Yeah, the monsters are ugly, but the story feels line it's going somewhere that could be cool. Good setup for a last-few-survivors-desperately-trying-to-survive-in-a-ruined world tale.

And I don't think Ghidorah is done yet. Not only does killing off such a famous villain so soon make no sense, but why mention and show him if he won't appear again? I think he's gonna wake up and become a wild card in the Godzilla-Mechagodzilla fight.

Really? You don't like it? But I'm pretty sure you find it better than Powell's covers right?

On a personal note (no offense to anyone), I can sorta live with David's covers, but I found Powell's covers superior. Now don't get me wrong: Matt's and Zornow's are probably the best ones out there.

Oh well, each man to his own opinion.
(I also like Paul Hanley's covers for KOM #2-2nd printing and G&G #4; they're awesome).

I got the Powell covers to the first 8 issues. I'd like to get the Frank covers for the next 4.

Yeah, but doesn't your comic shop have to order 10 copies first before getting a single Matt Frank cover?

Correct-o-mundo there, buddy-o.

Guess what my comic shop is doing now, since the drive for people to buy them has died down?

9. 5 for the people that have them on file, and 4 for the shelf.

Makes NO sense to me. They end up buying more issues the month after for request.

BACK TO EBAY IT IS!
