Monsters was a well recieved movie. I seen Monsters and I like his directing style, he gives me hope on the film but I'm really letdown that Goyer left with no reason. I think Goyer could got into trouble with both LP and Toho on the film. I knew something like this would happen!

Looking back on it now, don't really see the issue with Goyer leaving at this point. Goyer was never the sole reason behind the success of (Batman Begins, TDK) There was another writer working with him plus Nolan, same with (Man of Steel) it had Nolan an Nolans brother behind him to add to it.

David Goyer probably wrote the first or second official draft, taking possible elements from David Callaham's script, Then Gareth Edwards probably added a little bit to it, Finally bringing in this new fresh writer to finalize the script giving it a different twist. This is at-least what i am hoping of course.. If this is the case then i'm okay with it if they got rid of Goyer an having this guy write an entire new script (which i doubt) then i'm gonna be extremely skeptical on how this film turns out.

I've been saying for a while Godzilla wasn't coming until 2014, This is a pretty much a given now after the re-write it will easily be early 2012 before we get another announcement. Expect a February or March 2012 date for another announcement it either being another writer or an official release date for the film. As of recently it's been every 3 or 4 months we've been getting news.

In any case best of luck to Edwards because this is gonna be a difficult task, many think it's easy to make a Godzilla film but the fact is this is an American Godzilla film. I'd be heavily disappointed if he dropped out. Chances are the film wont get made if he does, sure there are many people that could handle it but many will refuse the offer.

Goyer also wrote Dark City which is one my all time favorite films and did create Blade 1-2 which where good movies and help Marvel going bankrupt at the time. He wrote some okay movies like Jumper but I think he had a good chance on writing something good. I guess we will find out soon why he is no longer the writer.

...also, it's not like Godzilla films are known for their amazing plots. All I'm looking for is a movie with GODZILLA in it. I'm pretty sure no matter who the writer is the film still won't be a "good" movie like Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

Why some are upset is because this is the 3rd writer in a year to be attached to the project. Either they're picking writers who ultimately aren't delivering, or the Toho approval process is REALLY tough on this one.

They might as well be doing their OWN movie if they do that :)

The approval process is tough. IDW has to deal with the same thing (although I don't know to what level LP is dealing with it but with all these changes, Toho must really be picky) and so did Atari.

Wow another writer? They must not be playing. Its understandable that a Godzilla reboot is a big deal but just how many writers will they go through before coming up with something edible? I want to see another interview with the producer and I want more information on just where this whole thing is going because it seems at this pace this whole project will just end up being scrapped. I remember Debonts version and where that ended up.

This.

I'm not a big fan of Monsters, but that's probably because I expected it to be something other than what it was. I expected something with "monsters" in its title to be about monsters, although it really wasn't. However, revising my angle of the genre allowed me to appreciate it as something other than a true monster movie. It's decent, but I'm again not much of a fan. That considered, I still was pleased with Edwards being named the director.

Goyer's idea for the movie sound really cool with Godzilla fighting multiple monsters, it sound like he respect the series. Maybe Toho did not like his draft?

Ya know, atleast it goes to show that the film isnt dead. Good news or bad (Make of this announcment what you will), Im simply glad they're actually doing SOMETHING with the film other than cancelling it.

With David S. Goyer-

Pros:
- Has written great stories especially for Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.
- His mood is usually dark and thrilling, just what Godzilla needs.

Cons:
-Has many projects to do at the same time and can get very mixed up.
-Has also written some scripts that are not good.
-He'll probably screw it up since he is putting a lot of effort and concentration into The Dark Knight.

With Max Borenstien-

Pros-
-Seemed to have impressed Legendary Pictures greatly, perhaps he is a better writer than Goyer if Legendary was willing to replace him.
-Has full attention and focus on the project unlike Goyer.

Cons:
-Has no other projects to relate to, making the outcome uncertain.

Atleast this shows that we have a studio that's taking time to find a good script.

Only downside really is that this means longer time until we see this film finally come out.

The multiple monster thing was talked about before Goyer was hired.
