This thread is for anyone that is into guitars and/or plays guitar. Here, you can talk about your favorite song to play, least favorite, your most dreaded chord, and so on and so forth.

So talk!

I don't really have a favorite song to play, there are far too many I enjoy playing. I definitely have a least favorite to play though, and it's one I had a hand in writing. It's titled "Mirror on The Wall", it's on my band's album. It's boring as all hell. I don't like listening to it, and I don't like playing it. Unfortunately, it's one of our more popular songs... >_>

So, anybody have a favorite pickup? I've been digging the Seymour Duncan SH-8 Invader for some time now.

I'm a newby guitarist, so I have no idea what a pickup is.

My personal favorite song is either Losing my Religion or House of the Rising Sun. When I say I can play these, I simply mean I know the chords and can do them without looking at notes.

And I hate bar chords...ugh I hate em so much. Any advice on how to make them easier?

On electric guitars, a pickup essentially "picks up" the vibrations of the strings and uses them to send a signal to the amp so the notes will be, well, amplified. That's a VERY simplified explanation. As you get more into the world of guitars you start taking into consideration everything that goes into a guitar.

The only way to make it easier is to practice. Eventually you'll be able to do them without thinking about it.

Yeah, don't worry about it. Take a video of yourself playing now. Then take a new one in 6 months. You'll be surprised how much you'll accomplish in such little time with a bit of practice. You'll be sweep-picking in no time.

I've been playing for a year and it's starting to just become muscle memory now.

I'm up for just about anything except death metal. Preferably classic rock though.

Sadly, with carpal tunnel and arthritis, I cannot play it :/ But Im looking at a grip strengthener and a power cord assister from the UK to help. Im dying to learn Nirvana.

Learn some open chords and play some simple songs like Wonderwall, Wish You Were Here, Time of Your Life

Then learn powerchords and learn some Nirvana, and some other punk music. Work your way up.

It's not anything worth bragging about personally. I know plenty of Nirvana and most of it is essentially the same thing.

When I first learned In Bloom and Smells like Teen Spirit, I was incredibly surprised by how easy they were, yet they sounded so complicated at the time haha.

I don't play much anymore, but I started almost four years ago. I like to think I'm pretty decent whenever I decide to practice, but that's generally pretty rare now.

But yeah, bar chords really aren't that hard to do once you get used to them, but I do have fairly long fingers compared to my palm.

Some recent songs I've picked up:
Brain Damage [Easy]
Interstate Love Song [Medium]

The latter has a lot of obscure chords, but the slides are pretty fun. I absolutely love the chorus. And barring isn't as hard as it used to be. Must be all that Space Oddity I've been playing. :)
