Re: Godzilla: The Look
Why do I get the feeling that they are going to do a "Godzilla: Series" fars the monsters?
I just hope the look turns out to be a 90's mix with a newer style.

Re: Godzilla: The Look
Godzilla should be around 50-100 meters tall, have spines on his back, a reptilian hide, stand on two feet, and have teeth.
I used to be a lot more optimistic and outgoing, believe it or not. I used to actually be passionate about this stuff.

Re: Godzilla: The Look
I would definitely vote for this design. It'd be nice to have the 80's/90's designs back. I'm not too much of a fan of the Millennium designs, I'm a guy that still lives in the pastMegalon2005 wrote:http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/7480/godzilla1984.jpg this and I'm happy.

Re: Godzilla: The Look
On the subject of stance, I found some interesting kits which serve as interesting examples.

Here we have Godzilla in a horizontal, roaring pose.
http://www.kaijukits.com/library/gtempe ... 00/g00.htm
A hunched over pose for an original design.
These I just thought were some interesting designs:

This one I thought had an almost dragon-like appearance.

Re: Godzilla: The Look
I love most of them. However, there will be those that dislike the whole design for Godzilla 2000 that will not be thrilled with those.

Re: Godzilla: The Look
I really like various different things about each of those kits. The teeth are a bit gruesome for my tastes. I prefer the double-rowed Heisei look in that department. I like the idea of a Godzilla who is vertical, but a bit more hunched over, also able to go a bit more horizontal when fighting. I feel like the filmmakers were going for that in Godzilla vs. King Kong and Godzilla vs. Mothra (64), for instance, but couldn't pull it off with the limitations of the day.

Re: Godzilla: The Look
Agreed but id still like to see it in a CGI or suit form(Like hell this is happening), where it wont be like "It sounded better on paper than on film".Hellspawn28 wrote:I think I'm fine with the T-Shirt design. Just make the head bit bigger then you got a awesome design.

I like certain design features of GMK Godzilla & Always2 Godzilla. I hope LP doesn't go too crazy with the spikes, like we see with the G2000 design.

How do you mean? You want the creators who are doing work for an American picture to NOT use their own resources and NOT make a suit in their own home country?godzillafan wrote:lets hope they dont make the godzillas suit american this time

Re: Godzilla: The Look
I still don't really think that a suit is the way to go. While the addition of some practical effects would be nice, I think most fans are just holding onto the idea of suitmation because they are afraid of getting burned again.

Re: Godzilla: The Look
You see, I think mocap would serve as happy medium for a movie like this. I don't get where people think they'll be using an actual suit. The likelihood of that happening is infinitesimal.Gorosaurus Rex wrote:I still don't really think that a suit is the way to go. Re: Godzilla: The Look
Motion capture works to a degree, but this will be one of the few times it has been use don a largely nonhuman creation. I cant see Andy Serkis-esque styles being used for Goji.

Re: Godzilla: The Look
My two cents on the look and effects of Godzilla:
-Looks like what the GFW suit should have looked like: just a tad bit slimmer, more defined muscle structure, blackish scales, razor sharp texture, razor sharp blue/silver spines but not overly disproportionate like the G2K suit, expressions with an attitude a la GMK, and slightly smaller feet to allow faster running with more detail than alot of the more recent suits.
-primarily fine tuned suitmation with motion capture CGI ONLY during more complex and hard to do shots. Its is a live action special effects movie, not Shrek or some video game. If you want it to look real, use REAL effects, and not oversaturate with CGI just because Peter Jackson, George Lucas, and the rest of Hollywood does. Do it the way Tsuburaya would have done it if he had the time and money a big Hollywood blockbuster allows.

Re: Godzilla: The Look
If Hollywood really worked like that then the Clash of the Titans remake would've been stop-motion. It's what the fans wanted but not what would've brought in the crowds. After what we've seen with Avatar, suitmation would just be regarded as a step backwards in both the public's and Hollywood's eyes. Motion capture is going to be the closest thing we'll get to suitmation. They're not going to do suitmation for some scenes, and mocap for the more complex ones. That's just a waste of money, time, and effort. They're going to go with the more sophisticated, and palatable effect.G-Man1989 wrote:Do it the way Tsuburaya would have done it if he had the time and money a big Hollywood blockbuster allows.
If there is going to be any suitmation used at all, I'm going to be just absolutely surprised.

Re: Godzilla: The Look
make Godzilla like the t-shirt one.
only with a bigger head and a heiseish face.
for the movements i think of suit motion with motion capture during the scenes where Godzilla is near the camera and the CGi for the most complex movements.
