Yeah, board games are becoming obsolete in my opinion mainly because of their increased prices and the fact that you rarely see people play them.

Considering the insanely high price tag I wouldn't be shocked.

Was anyone actually excited for that board game? Did anyone even buy and play it? Does anyone even care?

I mean c'mon, a board game? Seriously!?

Way to make Godzilla seem even more outdated and no longer relevent. Whats next, Godzilla record players? skreeonk' get with the times!

I was looking forward to the game, but not enough to spend $40-$70 on it!

I don't remember any real hype besides the main site promotions, but as far as the forum goes I don't remember any hype. As for the main site, it does that stuff all the time, and if it didn't, well would we even KNOW it's shit then?

Who said it was shit? I'm saying that pretty much no one bought it, or even cared, and it ultimately ended up as another half-assed attempt at breathing live into the franchise.

How do you even expect to market a board game in this day and age? Let alone sell!

C'mon guys, really? A board game is what you're bringing to the table? Its bad enough that KOM has become complete shit, and now we have this...

Lots of people still play board games. Board games don't JUST mean Monopoly or Clue, there's a lot of weird, cool, indie/underground games out there (I'm a big fan of Primordial Soup). They cost a little more, but if the game is good and you've got some people to play with, they can be a blast. Now whether the niche market that is into unique board games also want to check out one based on Godzilla, that's something else completely.

I guess I don't get the ANGER towards this? I mean either we get a board game, or we get... nothing. It's not like Toho said "Well we can either license a video game or a board game, what do you say board of directors? A board game?! SO BE IT WE WILL NEVER LICENSE A VIDEO GAME EVER AGAIN EVER." More likely the creator of the game had a cool idea for a giant monster board game, approached Toho for the license, and they said "Sure, sounds cool." If you don't want it, nobody's putting a gun to your head to buy it.

I don't give a shit about a board game. When I heard news of a new game I was happy until I found out they meant a board game. Everytime I think there's a new video game it turns out to be some stupid Pachinko machine, pinball machine, casino game or a skreeonk board game.

I posted its sale info along with Godzilla: Stomp!'s sales info in its respective thread in the Toys section.
It actually sold to retailers in decent quantities, probably meaning that pre-orders for the items were considerably high.

The majority of those topics were Chris, dude. I don't see why that's worth being angry over. It's not like the entire board was talking about it.

Board games are cool if there's love and effort in them. This thing, though, looked terrible, with crappy-looking PVC figures, no class whatsoever and an asininely high price tag.

There's always going to be an audience for a nice board game. Not everything has to be a sensory overloaded video game. Video games are not the absolute be-all, end-all that people treat them as. I'd love to see effort put into a high-class Godzilla trivia game with DVD clips and a challenge that requires actual knowledge of the movies. Something alone the lines of Scene It. But unfortunately because of a clusterf@ck of licensing reasons and Toho's nit-picky, pain-in-the-ass tendencies, something like that would never happen.

^I would LOVE this.

And I wouldn't say NEVER... I can see something like it happening when LPG comes out for marketing.

It'd be skreeonk awesome if he was in, but God knows it'll only have Godzilla and his opponent in the 2012 film. Personally I think the adaption thing is lame but whatever.

I doubt very much they would make a game with only two monsters. It'll probably be a tie in with the film but have several characters from the Godzilla verse.

I'm actually baffled that people are so eager to just settle on more beat-em-up, Atari style games and not something with a little more substance.

This "moar video gamez!!!" stuff saddens me. Godzilla is a franchise that deserves more than just video games featuring monsters beating on each other. Stars Wars, Harry Potter, Disney, Muppets...all these franchises get such cool assortments of games - trivia games, Scene Its, Monopoly skins, and of course video games - but when it comes to Godzilla the best we can do besides VS-style video games is an overpriced board game with comic-book style graphics and cheap little PVC figures?

That's sad.
