Alter Bridge

Probably one of the better bands out there today. Such a difference from Creed, I consider it a major improvement. The entire "Blackbird" album is just sick, and their newest album is awesome as well. Thoughts?

These guys rock. Outside of Ra, they are the only nu metal (not prog metal, that's DT) I actually really like. They have great riffs, great drumming, and of course, excellent vocals.

The first album was great, but Blackbird was a huge disappointment because it didn't take the band anywhere new, and instead just made thier sound a bit more generic and radiio friendly. ABIII seems to be expanding on that trend from the songs I've heard so far.

I get what you're saying, their sound really hasn't changed/evolved from where they started, but I kinda like that. I'd probably still like them if they changed their style a bit, unless it was a change like Metallica did with Load.

I really like Alter Bridge, Myles's voice is just great. I love what he's doing with Slash as well.

I was really hyping up their second album, I had all these visions of them going into a heavier/proggier direction because of what Tremonti said he was listening to at the time - so it was a letdown in a personal way, yet I can see why general AB fans would dig it (like I said in another thread, Tremonti knows how to write a damn good verse/chorus/verse/chours-type song, and sticks to it). The Ties That Bind is an epic song, but that's the only one that reaches the quality of the first album in my opinion.

Myles is easily the best live vocalist I've ever seen - I saw AB in his hometown (Spokane) a few years back and I was blown away by how every note he sang was perfect. Great guitarist, too.

One of my favorite bands to play along with, without a doubt. I like listening to their stuff too, but they're not that high up on my list. But each song usually offers a lot of different things to play around with. I love inserting lead parts for fun, or trying to out solo whichever of the guys happens to be soloing.
