I don't think that's the approach there going for personally, As Biollante said in another thread after the last American Godzilla even though people maybe curious it wont sell tickets like it did for the 98 film. Tri-Star basically ruined that approach.. Major hype, teaser's, trailer's, promotion, an positive reviews are what's going to sell this film into success.
A last minute approach is pretty much a death sentence for any film, much like not letting critic's screen it.. That to fan's is a ''Red-Flag'' in suggesting this film sucks, we know it but were hoping we can still suck you in before reviews come in.
Take a look at ''Creature'' an ''Conan the Barbarian'' for example. It might not be the case for every film but it applies to majority. Godzilla will no doubt start promotion near an entire year prior to release like most heavy blockbusters.
