I absolutely love angurius. I remember bein a wee lil chap watchin gvmg for the first time and getting choked up when "Godzilla" broke his jaw cause I thought they were buddies. When it was revealed that it was really mechagodzilla in disguise I was pumped and couldnt wait to see him get his ass kicked.

He's just a very likable kaiju; sick design, a roar you can remember, and a personality you can really notice. Actually, save for a few other kaiju hes really one of the only ones that has distinct personality characteristics. I lawld when I saw FW for the first time and he curled up in a little ball and ran train. Ballin.

tymon wrote:^Agreed, Anguirus is just as cool as any top 5 kaiju IMO, and is criminally underused. A sleek yet faithful modern take on him would be much appreciated, and I would love to see him as a first opponent for Godzilla in the Legendary Pictures film.

CGI and animatronics could really bring Anguirus to life...four-legged suitmation seems pretty limited in ways.

Yeah, Getting on your knees to Emulate a Four Legged Creature doesnt sound or look that great.

If they put him in the new movie, they should do it as he is protrayed in the video games, though, with his back legs longer than his front. I think it would be kind of dumb looking to have his back legs be shorter. Just my opinion.

Gotcha, no worries. I just wasn't 100% sure what you meant.

And yes, GFW Anguirus looks like ass. I liked the rolling attack, and that's about it.

Although I like the fiercer appearance of the original '55 suit, the second suit fits the underdog character.
Speaking of character, that's what makes Anguirus so memorable. That, and the fact that despite being based off of an Ankylosaur, Toho was able to make a completely unique monster.

I never really liked how they made him just a punching bag. I mean, he had his moments, but for the most part, he was just there to get his ass kicked. I mean, I know Godzilla has to take center stage, and his allies can't outclass him, but Anguirus could have been a little more impressive. However, the way he got beat up all the time did give him a reputation as being incredibly durable, which I did like. He's a cool-looking monster, and one of my favorites.

Tied with Gomora for my second favorite kaiju! Love this guy! His design, his personality, everything.

Probably close to my sixth favorite Kaiju. I do love him though, and I'll always consider him Godzilla's best of the best friend

He's okay. I've never been a fan, but I've never despised him either. He's a middle-of-the-road monster for me. I prefer Rodan.

I prefer Rodan too, but it's hard not to like Anguirus; he has lots of character which gives him some charm.

He's by no means a favourite, but he's the kind of character you're in different too but miss when he's not around.

Anguirus is most definitely the underdog of the series.
he teaches a great life lesson to never back down from a situation no matter how tough it seems. That and never trust your friends when they start sounding weird.
well, thats how i view it anyhow.

I even have a tiny Anguirus keychain on my motorcycle keys.
Sit back and relax.

I like Anguirus, though I find his design kind of "meh". I think he compliments other monsters well (either fighting with them or against them), but on his own, he isn't as interesting.

In terms of his design, that's where a lot of my love for him comes. I've always been partial to the simply designed, plain-old nothing special monsters of the early Showa days. If they'd made him a more formidable opponent, he would probably be my favorite monster.

He's one charismatic little monster, a good team player, nice design for simplicity and... It kind of reminds you your dog.

I think the original (well, the 1968) version of Anguirus was the best verson of the character. 1955's Angi is ok, but 1968 is superior in terms of look and personality. I just like his underdog attitude.

GFW's Anguirus is ok in design, though I prefer the concept art. But 1968 Anguirus is what I like.
