That actually would've been a really cool (and appropriate) replacement for Baragon. Probably would've been a cooler fight too.

I never quite saw The King Caesar suit as ratty, I thought it was a pretty well made suit. I really like KC and I'd like to see him come back.

I wish the Showa KC kept his Kung-fu kick that we get to see in the trailer, though.

I will send you a copy when I am finished. If I get the time, maybe later this year, I can transform it, into a comic book.

In your opinion, what is KC?

A statue that comes to life?
A statue that comes to life and transforms into a mammalian creature?
A mammalian creature that is awakened from hibernation?
Other?

It's floating around Youtube somewhere. it's a really brief "blink and you miss it" scene of KC jumping and throwing a kick at Mechagodzilla's head. It was probably cut for not looking all that good from a special effects perspective.

Jet Jaguar also used his light-up eyes to blind Megalon in a trailer, but that was also cut.

Lots of effects shots in Japanese monster trailers never end up in the finished films. Don't try to rationalize why.

^ okay...Legion1979 no need to be a buzzkill to his theory...and i found it. Actually the kick looks a lot more like a leap into Mechagodzilla that doesn't do jack squat.

King Caesar gets credit for a unique(and mammalian) design, but I think it really needs improvement. He's rather ugly, and kind of stiff. The worst part about him is that his whole plot in the movie seemed awkward. Why would the aliens worry about a monster that isn't even proven to exist, when they could be worrying about monsters like Mothra & Rodan?? :eh:

The reflective eyes are unique, but I also like the idea of him having a beam, like in the video games. It gets its power from the sun, if I remember correctly?
I like the idea, that the use of that weapon is limited.

Maybe in the next movie instead of looking for a random statue they were looking for an orb that would become KC's eye.

I just figured it would be one massive stone, but it could be a good way of putting it into the plot as if it was just a "big jewel".

Come now! Applying logic to Godzilla is like applying logic to Gamera. But me personally, I see them having some comprehension of the prophecy and are out to prevent it from ever being fulfilled.

Hey now, Showa Godzilla certainly makes more sense than Showa Gamera.

Now look at this

King Caesar is my favorite Kaiju, after Godzilla (1973). I think he looks great, I love his kung-fu fighting style, and I love the mystical background. It doesn't bother me that he got his ass kicked by MechaG, because as others have pointed out, it was MechaG after all! Now if he got beat by Gorosaurus, then I might not have liked him as much...

Anyway, does anyone know what King Caesar's official (i.e. Toho approved) English name is? I've seen it spelled Caesar, Seesar, Seasar. Obviously, his design is ripped off of a Chinese Shisa (lion dog), so perhaps it was supposed to be King Shisa? I don't know...

These days, the official spelling is "King Ceasar", but before that, it was "Seesar".

Glad to see another genuine fan. He doesn't get nearly enough love.

He's in my top ten.

What does that tell you how I feel about it? ;)

I always liked him. I always hated the long, awful musical number it required to activate him. He's not the most usability-conscious guardian kaiju.

Pity he's "Caesar" now. "King King?" "Seesar" was more interesting.

I like his song more then Mothra's, I can't stand the twins.

I know, blasphemy.

I like this guy, he has one of my favourite roars. Not to mention a design based off of a sisha is pretty interesting.
