Just wondering ゴジラ, but what are the films you have seen and which do you own?

The poor lug has zero films. It's like that Brendan Fraiser movie, Blast From The Past.

Godzilla vs. Hedorah is not exactly the best entry level Godzilla film...

Show her Return of Godzilla, Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla or Giant Monsters All Out Attack.

I honestly wouldn't do Return of Godzilla as a first film, either. But that's just me.

My recommendations:

Mothra vs. Godzilla
Ghidorah, the Three Headed Monster
Invasion of the Astro Monster
Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla
Godzilla vs. Biollante
Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II

Godzilla vs Mothra 92 might work too. I know a lot of you guys don't think highly of that film but you gotta admit thew volcano scene puts the one in Biollante to shame and it and the armies ASTOL-MB93 attacks failing give off a good sense of Godzilla's power.

I don't see how one scene in a 100+ minute movie that Godzilla barely appears in really makes the film worth showing to someone who has never seen a Japanese Godzilla film film before.

Hey, there's alot to these Godzilla films, I swear! they're solidly made films crafted by talented film-makers and can be interesting gauges of social and political climates of the time of their production. Look how cool Godzilla is coming out of this volcano!

Ah, too late. I'd have suggested GMK, to showcase his invulnerability. And you do know there's a scene in Godzilla Final Wars where Godzilla does indeed kick the American Godz -- I mean "Zilla's" -- ass? In 14 seconds, too. Shortest battle in the entire series.

(There's a long-standing debate over whether GFW "Zilla" and the American Godzilla are the same monster, mainly because they're trademarked as separate characters. I say they're technically not the same, but it's obvious they're supposed to be. But let's not start this argument in this thread...)

We had watched GMK, the looks and reactions on her face....Priceless 8-)

Alright let's see where do I start....

1. Gena had gotten a bit freaked out when seeing Godzilla's spines glowing in a haunting display as he moved through the darkness of the sea at the beginning of the film. The lights were off, and she wanted them on, but I made her stay put lol.

2. During the movie Gena thought I would pay "special attention" to Yuri(I'm not going to lie, Yuri is kinda good looking) every time she came on screen, and would punch me in the shoulder hard. I kept asking her why she hit me, and she couldn't give me an answer.

3. When she first saw Baragon completely, she thought he looked cute like a puppy and wanted to keep him. Must be the ears or something.

4. When Godzilla showed up, caused his destruction and killed the girl in the hospital, Gene kinda had a slightly rough grip around my left arm. And she wouldn't let go until the movie moved on from Godzilla. I guess the Godzilla in the film was much creepy looking than the original to her now.

5. When Godzilla stomped Baragon and beated him without any hesitation or mercy, Gena asked me why Godzilla was being so heartless. I simply kept silent and left her to solve it on her own. Of course when Godzilla wiped Baragon completely out, Gena was shocked and speechless, because she thought that since Baragon was a good monster, that he would not be killed off and live.

6. She thought that Mothra was beautiful and pretty, especially when Mothra came out of her cocoon. I told her not to get to attached since Godzilla was going to wipe her out too. She didn't believe me, thinking that Mothra was going to handle Godzilla and "kill him".

7. Gena starts cheering loudly when Mothra starts attacking Godzilla, and manage to have him stumble due to her stinger attacks. Gena started to jump happily when Mothra dodged Godzilla's atomic ray. Saying that she was right and that Godzilla was going to be killed by Mothra. She became more happy when Ghidorah showed up and started to attack Godzilla as well.

8. Gena becomes completely silent when Godzilla tricks Mothra and blasts her into oblivion. She remains silent for almost the rest of the movie. I didn't want to rub it in her face, but I did almost burst out laughing.

9. Ghidorah is revive and starts fighting Godzilla, Gena still mostly silent and not very active. I told her that Mothra had saved Ghidorah and she had gotten a bit happy. But not all that much since she remembered that every time she rooted for the good monsters, they would end up getting killed by Godzilla.

10. Near the end of the movie, when Godzilla was about to finish off the main human characters with his atomic ray, Gena sighed and looked at me, about to say that I was right. Until Yuri's dad drilled through Godzilla's wound and started to hurt his self with his own power. Gena's face was bright and lively like before, then started to yell: "Mankind is gonna **** this dinosaur in the ass hard! I told you so!"

11. Godzilla explodes, main human characters alright and safe. Gena cheering and happy etc, then told me to admit that the Japanese Godzilla can be beaten by mankind. After a moment, I told her that I still won and that I was still correct. Gena asked me how and what proof I had. I simply pointed to the screen.

12. Gena watches Godzilla's heart beat lively. Gena becomes silent and speechless again then quickly stops the movie. Me, I had a widen grin across my face. I asked who won in the film, she said Godzilla did and that mankind lost. And that I was right, while she was wrong. (Although I know that in the film, Mankind had won, Gena's thought process in monster films might be simple. If the monster is killed completely, man has won. If the monster is beaten but still alive, man has lost. This is what I think, but it might actually be correct IMO)

Gena then asked if the Japanese Godzilla could ever be killed, I said that he can be defeated now and then, but never killed. After that, she wanted to know more about the Japanese Godzilla and wanted to watch more films.

I guess she's starting to take a interest in the Japanese Godzilla.

Nice to know that your lady pal is taking a liking to the Japanese Godzilla. I suggest the the next Godzilla film that she watches is Mothra vs Godzilla. It's one of the best Godzilla films to watch and is a showcase of Godzilla at his evil best

ゴジラ, amazing job - not just what you're doing but the detailed descriptions are very interesting, too - it's always fun to hear outsiders' opinions on the films, especially in a take-by-take. Good luck introducing future films!

Ha ha ha you magnificent bastard you.

1. Gena had gotten a bit freaked out when seeing Godzilla's spines glowing in a haunting display as he moved through the darkness of the sea at the beginning of the film. The lights were off, and she wanted them on, but I made her stay put lol.

Love that scene, how often do we just see glowing spines at bottom of the ocean?

2. During the movie Gena thought I would pay "special attention" to Yuri(I'm not going to lie, Yuri is kinda good looking) every time she came on screen, and would punch me in the shoulder hard. I kept asking her why she hit me, and she couldn't give me an answer.

Can't blame you. Normally the women in kaiju films just look OK or meh to me but Yuri is just so damn cute both looks and personality wise, and that short hair just adds to it.

3. When she first saw Baragon completely, she thought he looked cute like a puppy and wanted to keep him. Must be the ears or something.

Can't blame her. I'm probably gonna have to turn in my man card but I always thought GMK Baragon reminded me of a big overgrown cuddly pitbull. And yeah it's the ears.

For some reason I picture that song "America skreeonk Yeah" playing in the background when she did this even though it's the JSDF.

(Although I know that in the film, Mankind had won, Gena's thought process in monster films might be simple. If the monster is killed completely, man has won. If the monster is beaten but still alive, man has lost. This is what I think, but it might actually be correct IMO)

Well I can see what she's thinking. If beaten but still alive a monster is only gonna come back again some day. So man won the battle but lost the war/the war is never ending.

Gena then asked if the Japanese Godzilla could ever be killed, I said that he can be defeated now and then, but never killed. After that, she wanted to know more about the Japanese Godzilla and wanted to watch more films.

Well, it looks like you might have cured her fear of the 54 Godzilla by showing her an even worse one. Yeah 1954 Godzilla was on a rampage and seeking mankind's destruction but it was still just an animal and just a victim of nuclear weapons like Japan. GMK Godzilla on the other hand, that thing has no soul at least not one it can call it's own.

I guess she's starting to take a interest in the Japanese Godzilla.

Oh hey congrats man, you might have just made a new fan. Next film give her a light hearted one to give her a break like Ghidorah The Three Headed Monster, Son of Godzilla, Godzilla vs The Sea Monster or Godzilla vs Megalon.

That's what I hate most about the American Godzilla. I know for some it's earlier in the movie but for me it's that the moment where it stops being about Godzilla and there's no turning back.

GMK was an excellent film to introduce her to the original Godzilla. It's a good movie, has good effects, pure entertainment along the way too. Being contemporary is a bonus.

Yes that moment was indeed painful, logical and realistic, but just way too much and just wasn't proper IMO.

I agree, although she's more freaked out by the GMK Godzilla due to the beating heart at the end, and of course, the soulless appearance and personality. She enjoyed the movie, liked the monsters and the acting, and wanted to watch more Godzilla films.

Living Corpse, I believe that Gena might become a Mothra fan in the long run due to her mostly cheering for Mothra in GMK. Infact, that was the only monster she cheered for.
