Your Favorite Thing About The Main Site

Postby Living Corpse » Fri Sep 30, 2011 6:45 pm

Wasn't sure where to put this.

So what's your favorite thing about the main site?

My favorite thing is the Character Analysis. When I read them it's very easy to pretend you're in a world where monsters are real and you're in school, learning about their biology in science class. And I think it'd be pretty cool to be a scientist studying giant monsters (just imagine how much G-Force pays you for finding weakness or coming up with answers on how to make weapons that mimic monsters energy weapons) and Monster Island would sure be a one of a kind zoo, once you figure how to contain them. Plus I just think science is cool, real or fake I love it.

Example: http://www.tohokingdom.com/articles/ana ... esar_s.htm

Second favorite thing about the main site is the Kaiju War Chronicles. Some of these matches are actually really good and at times even feel like you're reading an unused script by the studio.

Example: http://www.tohokingdom.com/articles/kwc/match_27.htm

And my third favorite thing is of course the monster bios for obvious reasons that they give stats on mass, height, wingspan, flight speed and a list of powers and weaknesses. Oh yeah I guess it helps that if there's a new game or movie or news on a DVD release the front page lets you know but the forums do that too.

I really haven't gotten acquainted with most of the main site yet. Basically I used this site to learn about most of the movies I own today. So right now, the top of my list is the movie reviews. I don't really have a second place yet, and even first place might get changed. I enjoy the K.W.C., and the character analysis.

Yeah, I know the feeling. I wish there was more Character Analysis. Well there IS more but from what Anthony himself has told me it's very time consuming to translate this info into English from the books Toho only released in Japan, then get the pictures and cutaway views of the creatures anatomy and make a banner to make it presentable.

With so much effort that has to be put into something that is not important (but is still fun) it of course takes a back seat for other stuff like news on movies, DVDs, Comics, Books, Games and so forth. Still I enjoy them and while the wait can be madness inducing I find myself feeling like a little kid again learning about something new in science class when a new one is put up.

The K.W.C. and monster bios. The character analysis are cool too.

The three things I like are:

1. KWC- There's been some great battles there. It's almost like watching a movie.

2. Toons- I'm surprised no one has mentioned this. Kaiju Kritics cracks me up, and they've created some wacky characters. I wouldn't have imagined Battra as a pirate.

3. Release dates- Ads don't show these movies, so I'm glad to have a source letting me know when one is being sold.

The user-friendly and welcoming feel to the whole site. I don't feel like I can't submit something, which is huge in this websites appeal.

The KWC. It's like the top of the totem pole for good kaiju battles.

Character analysis. I don't think I've found another site that goes so in-depth with monsters...it's neat.

Concept Art is nice to look at when you got nothing better to do. It's cool to see what things could have looked like if they had gone a different route.

This for me too. One of the main reasons I joined the site was to be able to write KWC's.

I'd say the Monster Bios, the cutting room, KWC, and JSDF/Alien stuff.

For me it's the video game section because I helped shape it with Project G and giving Chris input on his GU project.

Second I like the concept art it's always cool to see a "What could have been"

The DVD section, film reviews, the VHS Boxart article, things like that. Awesome site.

One complaint, though...when you do comparisons of different DVD screenshots, you should put them on the same page instead of different ones. It kinda defeats the purpose of A/B perspective when I have to load them on seperate occasions. Common sense would tell you to put the images right next to eachother side to side (or even on top of eachother) on one page instead of having to waste two pages for no good reason.

I'm still surprised the DVD Section continues to neglect most of the 2002 Classic Media DVD releases. Obviously, they're below-par but I've been curious for some time if there's much improvement between the Simitar 1998 and CM 2002 releases. I think only G:KoM is up on the site.

^ I could probably do reviews on those (I own the box-set) but my technical knowledge on DVD formats is definitely not on par.

K.W.C.

I'm one of its founders and writers, so it should come as to no surprise the KWC is one of my favorite things about the main site. I love writing stories. I also love reading the stories of other authors. It's a place for writers to show their love and passion for the genre that brought us together. That's really what it's about.

Monster Bios

It's easily one of the best I've seen. Very informative and cool to look at.

The D20

Okay, so this hasn't been updated in years. I was never a fan of Dungeons & Dragons. But I like the concept of this. Maybe someday it'll be revived in a bigger and better way. 'Cause there's a great idea here, waiting to be perfected.

The Articles

Yes, I've written a few. They're not easy to write. It takes up a lot of time and I feel as if some of 'em are outdated (there's more I'd like to add to the SpaceGodzilla one I wrote). The fact it takes a lot of time and effort to make one just goes to show how much they're worth it. I don't think any other kaiju site does them.

I also like reading film and DVD reviews. They don't always match my opinion, but they're well written, and always bring up good points.
