I enjoyed the musical ones. It's like Godzilla: they're different than the first and not as good, but just as enjoyable.

Another great thing about the original movie is Pat "Commissioner Gordon" Hingle's narration.

Arrow wrote:If there's one gripe I have with the firs LBT it's that the movie is far too short. It needed an extra 20 minutes.
Blame Spielberg and Lucas for cutting down the film by 10 minutes.

The Stone of Cold Fire. It explains what happened with the adults during the events of the first film. It also has a surreal subplot featuring supernatural or possibly even extraterrestrial dinosaurs interacting with the characters.
Godzilla says I should learn to fight my own battles!

Ah, fully agreed here.

Also the animation is top-notch. Expected of a theatrical animated feature of course, but re-watching this movie recently I was surprised at how well it held up.

I suppose you can blame them a lot of things with this movie. While nothing they did hurts the movie in any real way, they do prevent it from reaching its true potential. Still, for what we got it's pretty good.

I loved these films when I was younger; I think I kind of faded out of it around the 11th film.

Today, though, I went back & watched the original again. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but I think you really have to be a kid to fully appreciate it. I do think it could have been a little bit darker.

That said, I am now very fond of the music. It is very powerful; easily the strongest factor to the film.

I give it 7/10.

I use to love watching these films as a kid. Haven't seen a few of them though.

I grew up with Land Before Time as a kid, along with Godziila, Jurassic Park, The Lion King, and Dragon Heart. However, I haven't seen any if the LBT films in ages. I should watch the original again some day.

Would it be weird if I told you that to this day, I can still memorize and sing "When your big" from the third film?

Nope. I can do that with a frightening number of animated musical numbers.

I remember back when I was younger that I never flinched during the first movie, not even when Sharptooth ripped out the chunk of flesh from Littlefoot's Mom.
Now when I see it...I still don't flinch, all though I do get a little teary eyed when I see the part when they find the Great Valley.

I have to say that I loved the sequel. I would always want to rent it. Don't know why, maybe because it had Chomper in it. Love that guy. Still have a plush toy of him in a closet along with Littlefoot.

The only LBT movie I haven't seen is The Wisdom of Friends...and I'm glad I didn't,since I've heard it was horrible.

I remember having every single one of them. But I don't remember what the hell happened. I can kinda remember big plot things, but not even in which order.

I own every one of the films...

-_-

Just realized how sad that sounds...

It was kind of a running gag between my grandma and me. Since I was the youngest grandchild for the longest time, she would always get me the latest Land Before Time movie for Christmas.

I havent even opened the last 2 or 3.

Anyone ever see the very short lived TV show?

^ Not yet. I am considering going through the whole series again; I have the first 9 or 10 films on VHS.

Yeah. Even though it was meant for little kids,I still watched it when it was on.
I liked it.

Yep! I really liked Ruby, and it was cool that they brought Ali back.

Arrow wrote: There's a long-standing rumor that the original ending for the film had Sharptooth kill the children and they would discover "the Great Valley" - Heaven. I don't much stock in it though. It can be heavy at times, but The Land Before Time is still a children's film. I can't see them ending on that sort of note. After all, An American Tail ended with Fivel reunited with his family.

I believe the rumor to be false as well, but anyone who thinks that a series designed for children cant have an ending that bad has never read The Chronicles of Narnia all the way to the end.
There has never been a "Scientifically Accurate" Dinosaur portrayed on any Television Show, Movie, or Documentary. Only what the human imagination can conceive, and I'm ok with that.

God, I haven't seen one of these movies in ages! I remember a friend of mine gave me "The Stone of Cold Fire" (not sure if that's the actual title, but that was the subject of the movie) for Christmas one year... It's probably up in my attic somewhere...

But this movie (the original) was one of my favorite movies when I was little. Wasn't there a television series made out of this? I can't remember it doing very well, as I heard about it for about a month or two, and nothing thereafter.
