Should we get another animated Godzilla series?

Should we get another animated Godzilla series?

Post by Godzilla1989 »

Do you want another animated Godzilla series, like for example if Godzilla 2014 is successful?

If they do then I hope it's like Batman the animated series. It was dark and serious yet it was successful.
I love GODZILLA and Kentucky Basketball

I would love a properly done animated series for the Big G, it could provide interesting character arcs as well as a lot of monster fights. It wouldn't be held back by big budget live action FX, so we could see some really cool stuff.

But if it's American-made, it'll be kiddie Saturday morning fare, which is ok I guess, but it's not what I'd hope for.
I can see that. My hope for the LGP movie is for Godzilla to be taken seriously again, and I do question whether or not an animated series might undo a bit of work, if only because it'd likely be -as you put it- a "kiddie Saturday morning" bit of work and a nice anime-grade show would be more interesting. On the flip side, if that's what the market wants ...

It sounds like a decent enough idea. I've thought every once in a while what they could do in terms of a stand-alone cartoon of Godzilla; not based off of a movie or anything. It would be cool to see.

I'm not a fan of anime, but I'd start watching a Godzilla one if it were a decent show.

A saturday morning kiddie one wouldn't be bad as long as it has fluid-looking action and protagonists that don't say unfunny, unoriginal, cheesy, ear-grating one-liners.
Q: Will we see that monster that Bryan was going to reveal this morning at the press conference?
Cranston: Oh yeah! The only Godzilla movie with an X-rating.

I kinda liked the G'98 animated series, so I wouldn't mind another like that one for the LP movie.

If they make one, i hope they include some classic monsters with Godzilla (Ghidorah, Mothra. Rodan, Titanosaurus) along with some new original monsters

Yeah, while I did like the G'98 cartoon, the monsters were sometimes too weird.

It kinda helps that Toonzilla acted more like Godzilla then GINO did. ;)
To be honest, if GINO was like the animated Zilla, than I wouldn't mind the new Godzilla design as much as I do. Animated Zilla is actually kinda cool.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned that already. I forgot about it. The monster designs are a little wonky, but the whole story sounded really fun. I would watch it.

Then I wouldn't watch it. :P

I'd be pulling for a Godzilla anime, but I doubt it would happen.

^Do you know why Toho hasn't ever been interested in an anime? Somethin to do with profit I'm sure, I just don't know how it adds up..

Edit: IR, teh ninja. Is it just because they see him as a "movie only character" or are there other factors at play?

Didn't this craze die out in the 90's? Making a cartoon based on a movie in the theater? Plus we already have a comic series going on so though it'd be cool, it'll probably not happen. And chances are if it did, it'd probably only have a 13 episode pilot season and that's about it.
