this.

in concept this is one of the more frightening gojis, but in practice in the film he came across as less scary, more imposing... at least when filmed from the correct angle

In response to the actual question, I really don't find any giant monster scary. If anything, they're cool

Be pretty funny if these kaiju existed. "I don't think they're scary I just think they're cool." And then when everyone runs in fear you get stomped on by the monster that you think is cool. Dammit why can't kaiju really exist

It'd be awesome though, then we wouldn't have to film a guy in a suit either ;)

I don't think he's scary at all. No incarnation of Godzilla has ever frightened me.

I mean I would probably have the same reaction as that little kid if I ever saw GMK Godzilla stompin the yard in real life, but then again I'd probably shit my pants if any godzilla was stompin around. I'd say GMK is definitely the "scariest" Godzilla there is, and I think a lot of it has to do with the high, arching eye brows, the white eyes, the raised lips and brutal teeth. He just looks like hes gonna rip you to pieces.

(P.S. that first picture is now my back ground, best pic ever lol)
This valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.

GMK Godzilla has always been one of my favorite incarnations of Godzilla, but the Godzilla 2000 incarnation fits the "scary" look more than GMK Godzilla does. I really only have seen GMK Godzilla as having a massive gut when I watched it on a large TV, where I couldn't stop noticing how big his gut looked, but most of the time I watch the film on my laptop, where it doesn't look so massive.

SPOILER ALERT

IMO, Scary onscreen and scary in real life are two different things. I thought the scene in Paranormal Activity where the hapless couple saw footprints in the flour on their bedroom floor, but then realized what they didn't see, was scary... in a a fun, "creepy once you realize the implications," sort of way.

But if I'd actually been in that room, and convinced (as they were, by then) that there was something demonic in their house, I'd have felt something much more intense, and not at all "fun."

So did I ever think GMK's Godzilla was 'scary', in a cinematic way? Yes... but what made him scary only partially derived from his appearance: specifically, from the brutal jaws and his ghost-like eyes.

In combination with his head, what really made him frightening (again, movie-style frightening) was his behavior: like letting Mothra try to sneak up behind him, letting her think he was preparing to blast Tachibana's ship, out in the bay, then turning at the last moment and blasting HER: fatally, as it turned out.

Or staring down at individual human beings, and preparing to murder them with his atomic breath.

How many times in other movies has Godzilla even noticed unarmed human beings, much less paused to make certain he killed them?

One scene in G vs KG comes to mind, but even then, he didn't come across as calculatingly evil, like GMK's Godzilla does.

Nope.

GMKGoji has a short, alligator-like head and a frat boy's body and while both those things can be scary by themselves under the right circumstances, they don't combine well.

Exactly. I honestly find G2K "scarier" than GMK (though neither are exactly scary looking). The eyes were a really nice touch though. What makes him the one version of Godzilla that is actually a bit creepy is how he is aware of what he is doing to people. He just didn't mindlessly run around and blast things; he targeted people specifically.

He's certainly the most eerie, ominous, intimidating, sinister, menacing, evil Godzilla to find its way into a movie. I don't know about "scary", but it's a matter of opinion anyway.
