As for the actual topic I actually want to root for Godzilla. He's the reason I'm going to see this thing, after all. If I have to choose between one or the other, then I'll go with the sympathetic choice.

If a Complete Monster is making you feel sorry for him, then he's not playing his part very well. Complete Monsters are generally despicable, vile, remorseless, sinister, and utterly wicked with no excuse or justification given for why they do the things they do. If there comes a point where you negate all that for a moment like Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah
, where all the heinous acts the villain commits are paired up with something like the Shindo scene, then he stops being one. The Godzilla in GvsKG isn't a Complete Monster, neither are the ones used in the original film or the '84 film.
