As much as I give Pipeworks hell at least their first game, GDAMM, managed to do some of this very well. Especially compaired to their later two games.
To be honest I've never really played a fighting game for the story of it so maybe that's why I don't mind these games very much. I'll admit that a good story can definatly add a lot to a game but for me it's just about the fighting if in the process I save the world or destroy it that's just an added bonus to me. I like what STE tried to do with the mini games in the middle of the campaign but it didn't make much sense half the time like I'm Godzilla I'm trying to save the world...but now I have to destroy 80% of this city? There were some really good ones though that made actual sense like protecting the Pyrimid building and fighting MKG and the underwater Goji and Space Mogera levels but other than that the mini games were pretty fail.
