Living Corpse wrote:The problem is that the few who actually make the games like the movies (fighting, destroying cities) usually don't execute decently. As much as I give Pipeworks hell at least their first game, GDAMM, managed to do some of this very well. Especially compaired to their later two games.

To be honest I've never really played a fighting game for the story of it so maybe that's why I don't mind these games very much. I'll admit that a good story can definatly add a lot to a game but for me it's just about the fighting if in the process I save the world or destroy it that's just an added bonus to me. I like what STE tried to do with the mini games in the middle of the campaign but it didn't make much sense half the time like I'm Godzilla I'm trying to save the world...but now I have to destroy 80% of this city? There were some really good ones though that made actual sense like protecting the Pyrimid building and fighting MKG and the underwater Goji and Space Mogera levels but other than that the mini games were pretty fail.

Who said anything about the story? I'm talking about gameplay and other shit.

Well then what exactly are your complaints with STE and GU? They both have monsters fighting eachother and STE is for the most part GDAMM with more monsters and mini games.

They both are clumsy as hell and one is an unfinished game with glitches.

I'm not sure I'd call STE clumsy but that's just me. I personaly like it a lot more than GDAMM

Umbrella not needed. Hell I've seen kids who think GU is prefect and nothing is wrong so I wouldn't say liking GSTE is a blasphemy. :lol:

Hahaha well I'm sure someone else would drop it on me. :lol: I loved GDAMM when it came out but when STE came out with it's roster and my favorite monster from GDAMM Godzilla 90's actualy had his own attacks not the least of which his rage I pretty much stopped playing GDAMM. The addition of onlime also really helped it. :huge:

STE is a fine game really, but sometimes it shocks me how much people like it now compared to how much they still hate GU when technically speaking, GU delivered on virtually all it's promises, while the version of STE that went on store shelves was made in a few months and the majority of it's development time was put towards features that never came to fruition, most of which WERE announced and known.

Except for small things like, running properly, a balanced fighting system, tight controls, working "cut scenes", reasons to play after you unlocked all the monsters, system equality, being fun, and being a "game" by the loosest definition you can find.

It delivered on menu music! But Idk if that was promised...

Most and some of those can apply to both DAMM and Save the earth :/

The game runs, is fairly balanced, has ight controls, and the fact that the game works means you can play it with friends over and over. The versions were the same on each respective platform for both those games too.

As for the 2 and a half cutscenes that were pre-rendered for the game, one is totally awesome, and 2 work at the very least.

Yes, well STE lacked:
* Biollante
* Token Upgrade System
* The entire story mode and associated levels
* Jets

GU did deliver poorly, but there was nothing promised that was completely missing in the final release aside system equality, the PSP version itself, and arguably the control scheme. There's a difference between skreeonk up and failing completely. GU may not live up to the expectations, but STE never truly came out to begin with.

*Biollante a good game does not make.
*I don't know how a "Token upgrade System" would benefit a fighting game...
*"I can't put enough quotation marks around Godzilla: Unleashed's 'story' so I won't even try."
*The cutscene at the beginning, and the story specific levels in STE, such as the underwater section, asteroid section, Mecha King Ghidorah Clones, etc. represent more effort than whatever you would call Godzilla: Unleashed's "story mode and associated levels". All Godzilla: Unleashed did was throw monsters in a map the made, and came up with a reason for it that wasn't really needed.
*Jets, as in the planes? The Super X, Helicopters, and Battleships weren't enough for you?

He means that that stuff was promised or at least shown and in the end didn't make it.

Exactly my point.

GU may be shit, but it DID meet the promises, if not the expectations. In fact, STE received similar treatment in my memory before GU came out.

I voted yes, mainly because what Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee was, what Godzilla Save the Earth could've been, and what Godzilla Unleashed was trying to be.

You know, not to beat a dead horse with a stick but about the whole "oh we wanted Hedorah to have cool liquid effects where he is like dripping and like the T-1000 constantly shifting but we could make it work so we just dropped him all together instead of just dropping the effects" thing.

You know who could pull off the effects they wanted to use for Hedorah. NRS. Now I'm not saying they would make a good Godzilla game but if you played their recent Mortal Kombat you see they pull off particle effects off very well for Scorpion fire, Smoke's smoke, Rain's water, Skarlet's blood, Kenshi's spirit, the ambers for Freddy's intro and furnace, and Sub-Zero's misty breath. Now imagine how Hedorah's "living blob/liquid" effect they wanted to use in GU would have looked with that engine.

Drools.

^ Was that game released on the Wii though? I thought it was an Xbox 360 release?

Because I believe Simon did say something about that Hedorah would be possible on the X360 or PS3.

I'm not talking about consels I'm saying they wouldn't cut out Hedorah because they are use to working with these effects. But yeah MK is a PS3 and 360 only game though Boon said he'd be interested in making a Wii U port that makes use of the motion control.
