He was going to kill the T1000 with SEXINESS

Perhaps we should ask Simon Strange himself for the full story on Hedorah, since so much of this hangs on what he's said? (And since most of what he's said outside of the official interviews is now lost.)

So I decided to skip him, and get 3-5 other monsters into the game instead. So - no game art assets were ever created, and no code was ever written in support of Hedorah. When I made that final decision, I believe we had four monsters in the game - G2k, Kiryu, Gigan FW, and someone else.

But its a bit better than ignoring him completely. I still don't like his attitude regarding it. He kind of is just like "oh well, whatever", not really considering how much it would mean to fans.

But see, that's just it. If they had just made Hedorah a normal character instead of wanting to make him some uber-fancy thing that almost doesn't even fit in with the rest of the GU roster, he probably wouldn't have taken away from the other characters.

There are just some things about game design you do not rush because it takes time to prefect it, time that Pipeworks was not given.

It's also the last game in the series. We're not going to be getting another Pipeworks game, so now we have to wait lord knows how long for another American game company to want to make a Godzilla fighting game, and hope they decide to use Hedorah at some point. If we could just go "Well, it sucks Hedorah wasn't in Unleashed, but hey, he's sure to be in Godzilla 4," I'm sure the blow would be considerably lessened.

I'm only going off the information Chris and Simon have passed on, but generally what I've been getting is that Atari was confident in G:U being a success and although Chris can feel free to correct me (and probably will have to) I believe he's mentioned a G4 was, very briefly, in production - and I'm presuming it was scrapped because G:U was such a spectacular failure. In addition, Mr. Strange and Chris have both mentioned the idea of an X360 version and while it's been a long time since I heard the podcast, it seemed like the idea had been somewhat seriously entertained.
