I don't think there will be any metal. Edwards doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would want that in there.

Agreed. Thats one of my least favorite things about Godzilla: Unleashed is the ridiculous heavy metal theme music. Its out of place. Yes, Kaiju are huge and full of death and destruction, but heavy metal doesn't click with them. That Sum 41 song in GFW makes me #(%@ing cringe.

The studio and Gareth Edwards have stated within every interview that their full intent is to please the fans and respect the originals.

So no Heavy Metal. And thank Zeus for that.

Now as far as the actual topic of this thread goes, I'm really liking what everyone is saying about three monsters... Goji, someone for him to use as a punching bag, and then the big threat. I like that a lot. Here's to hoping!

P.S. Video game monsters are bad ju ju. Adding Krystalak or Obsidius (a molten rock golem, how creative!) would be bad, but BOTH of them? Hey, that makes me think- if Asylum did the effects, it'd even LOOK like a video game![/quote]

I kind of liked the ideas of Krystalak and Obsidius. They were creatures made up of non living materials, like Hedorah, and that made them stand out. They were new and maybe unpopular, but Toho even introduced new creatures in it's newer films, like Orga and Keizer Ghidorah.

Personally nothing would make me happier than to see real arch eneimies like MechaGodzilla or King Ghidorah though.

Also, I wish people would stop saying bad SE in a movie looks like a video game because frankly, the quality control in videogames is a lot more stringent by and large when it comes to big name titles. Most of the animation flubs big budget movies get away with are usually unacceptable in video games, because it is an interactive medium and gamers would totally bitch and or judge the game harshly on looks alone.

Videogame developers employ motion capture a heck of a lot more that Hollywood does and it shows.

Speaking of video games and movies, as a good choice for music I don't think they could go wrong with Kow Otani, the guy who composed the themes from GMK and also the music from Shadow of The Colossus , which in a great giant monster experience and also a good example of video games having damned good special effects.

Agreed. Though just one nitpick, Sum 41 isn't really metal. It's punk with a metal influence. But still, it was too heavy for a Godzilla film. That scene feels like a fanmade video.

or theyre own rendition of the Blue Oyster Cult Song it doesnt necessesarly has to be on the movie or soundtrack.

I wouldn't mind heavy metal too much, as long as none of that shitty death metal's in there.

We have strayed ever so far from the topic!

What Toho monsters would everyone like to see in this film?

I think 3 is good: Godzilla of course, Anguirus, Rodan or Mothra as well. I would LOVE to see King Ghidorah but I don't think he'll get tossed in there yet. Probably gona stick to Earth bound mutations before venturing to any space invaders. :g2k:

p.s. it would be epic if the used a new kaiju and made it a giant turtle :huge:
:g2k: End of line.......

Between 2-4. Godzilla, the enemy, and maybe a weaker monster

Well, I can think of one monster that would be cool with a bit of a story update.

Gigan. He's an alien cyborg, right? And he's basically originally contracted to come to Eaarth for the sole purpose of killing Godzilla.

What if, in a show of the spacemonster's intelligence, it kind of does what Orga did, establishing a connection with the people's computer networks, only this time it chooses to communicate with the humans, in the same way the aliens from Monster Zero did, offering to take care of Earth's "Godzilla problem"

Then imagine the creature neglecting to mention what else it was sent to do after it has destroyed Godzilla, namely, pave the way for alien conquest of Earth.

Really depends on the plot. In my opinion, big "free for all" battles don;t work all that well in non-CGI films. DaM is probably the only film where a "group battle" looks any good (and even there some kaiju like kumonga saw very little action).

I think there could be a lot of kaiju in a film, especially if you show places like monster island, but big battles shoudl be limited to two, or 3 kaiju at best.

I personally like Obsidius, but not Krystalak. I think Obsidius should be used in the film, but as cannon fodder, not the main opponent. Then, we should have either an old great enemy, or a new, but "creative" kaiju. Reason for "", was because they said Obsidius and Krystalak were creative, I think Obsidius was more than Krystalak. Or they could do were Godzilla fights a small monster or again, Obsidius, and then defeats the whomever monster and the military tries to kill Godzilla, but fails, they think they killed him in the end. Then we see Godzilla at the bottom of the ocean, eyes pop open, and swims away.

My personal
Godzilla
Obsidius or Baragon, or Anguirus
And then King Ghidorah, Gigan, or some Mecha.

It's just that I'm studying a geology course in college, and the significance of the differences in Obsidius and Krystalak's origins have become more apparent to me. For instance, Krystalak being formed at a greater depth than Obsidius. The increased heat and pressure makes it possible for crystals to grow larger in rock, whereas Obsidius is made of materials that are nearer the surface of the earth when formed, cooling off too quickly to form crystals and instead becoming solid volcanic glass obsidian, hence the appropriate names Obsidius and Krystalak.

It also suggests that Krystalak may be more durable than Obsidius, being made up of solid crystal and all. I dunno, with the crystal spines and beard and overall demonic monkey like appearance, Krystalak always made me think of Todd MacFarlane's Violator character crossed with Doomsday, the monster that temporarily killed Superman.

If it was accepted as canon by Toho, it would be cool if Obsidius and Krystalak were referred to as the "children" of Spacegodzilla, or at least minions of it.

They are both neat monsters with disastrous environmental origins, like Hedorah.

What better compliment to a monster made from human pollution than creatures made from geological processes that were once viewed as what caused the extinction of the dinosaurs?

I'd like Godzilla, one Godzilla-fodder monster, (Say a monster that the military is being easily dispatched by that Godzilla wastes easily) and the "Big Bad."
