I do, depending on how it mutates, or is resurrected if you take the original paleontologist's words literally.

I think it would be cool to show the effects of the atomic fallout, showing it killing large numbers of sea life before it finally reaches Godzilla's resting place. Then there could be some kind of imagery of how the fallout interacts differently with Godzilla's body, maybe even charring it's skin, but then having the tissues regeneration. Anyone ever picture Godzilla collecting radiation with those big stony fins, the way that stegosaurus and dimetrodon were once said to collect heat from the sun?

Yeah that would be awesome using the fins as a kind of conductor.

Personally I think it's just that Godzilla can take whatever the military throws at him. I mean, they have to do something like that after GINO played freaking hide and go seek.

And the difference is?

Either way it's a psudo dinosaur being mutated by fall out.

The 80 meter scale that the Heisei films started with was a reasonable compromise, but I will always prefer the original stats.

Gotta disagree the 100 metre version truly embodies Godzilla's power and invulnerability.

Funny. I thought it embodied his physical dimensions. And, of course, embodied them in a needlessly overdone fashion.

Precisely. Godzilla doesn't have to look like a shuffling mountain in order to be depicted as a strong character. Is there anyone out there that really wants to tell me what pansies Godzy '84 and '89 were, being 80 meter midgets and all?

As long as he can crush something like a large automobile, or a small group of automobiles by stepping on them, I'm happy with the size.

The only time the 100 meter look had any impact on me was with that simulated helicopter shot from Godzilla vs. Ghidorah, the one that rounds the big white building, the first thing you see is billowing black smoke, and then there's Godzilla. That was one time the 100 meter mark worked for me.

Another time was in G2k, with that shadowy depiction of Godzilla wading through buildings that don't reach his knees. The shot where the GPN guy, the female photographer and his kid are coming up over the hill in the foreground. That looked like something right out of "Twister" and gave the same feeling of power and destruction.

I want him to live in a van down by the river.
But seriously, he's a mutated dinosaur with the power of a nuclear bomb in his belly. Don't complicate it, actually, if scientist were baffled by it and unable to explain his existence in the movie, I think that would be best. He shouldn't be possible.

Godzilla was not 100 meters tall in G2K, he was 55 meters again.

Actually, I know it wasn't much of a difference, but he was actually 60 meters tall.

My mistake. I meant that the shadow shot made G2k look incredibly large and destructive like the tornado shots from "Twister", like he could have been 1oo meters. Those were the only two Godzilla shots I could think of where the monster looked that big and it seemed believable to me.

That would be just so delightfully demented it might actually work.

And for my demented contribution to the discussion: have the monster start out looking like 'Zilla, (a mutated iguana-type creature), but then additional radiation or another monster's attack makes it mutate again (perhaps Doctor Who style, all glowy and stuff), into the form we all know and love.

I know this one's really crazy, but...

SSSKKKKKRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNKKKKKKKKKKKKK....and then he rises from the water.

Really, does he need an origin? He's never had an origin before Heisei; anything said in Showa is just postulations.

The smartest thing they did in the original Gojira was tying it in with the islanders beliefs. You can never be sure if it's a dinosaur, a mutation, or a literal god punishing man.

That IS why Godzilla became a symbol and endured.

Godzilla happens, he isn't simply created.

I say keep it original, or have it like Gojira, and have Godzilla pop out, and then have a bunch of theories but with one that is more popular than the rest, one that everyone excepts.

On the off chance Chris Nolan will direct the film, I expect it to end with Godzilla returning to Monster Island to Little Godzilla. Before walking off screen, he spins a rock. And it spins. And spins. And spins. Spins. Spi
