I've been saying it for the longest time and I hate to sound like a broken record but I think Seattle would be a pretty cool place to trash in this film.

I always enjoyed Marvel Godzilla issue #2 where he trounces Seattle.
The cover has him crushing the Space Needle if I remember right.
Interestingly enough #1 is set in Prudhoe Bay and #3 is set in San Fran.

That's assuming you believe Gojira, Godzila 1985 and GMK are the best movies, right?

Even Biollante had a connection to something for those of us across the pond. It's loose, a bit subtle (besides the BioMajor thing), but it's there.

Rather than appealing to simply White American connections, just make it something we, as HUMANS, can connect to without being dark and brooding.

Does it NEED to be there? No, but it might not hurt. The question is whether you can make people connect to the film without being preachy and still be good fun. Chances are, it's going to swing to the extremes in either direction.

In the span of 3 weeks, two people I've been close to died. It tends to be a... mellowing experience.

The internet is simply no longer worth getting pissed over.

It was a clear connection to the horrors of the unknown of 9/11 much like Gojira was an allegory to the nuclear bombings of Japan. American's won't see the connection if he attacked in a foreign land. Attacking the U.S. would make the events closer to home.

Oh please, I don't believe this for a second. A Godzilla movie doesn't need to have a connection to anything. It just needs to be fun. And it can be fun no matter where it's set.

I agree with Legion1979. I will also add that Godzilla movies have been shown in the U.S. since 1956. So why after 55 years would American's all of a sudden have a problem connecting with this new film?

Changed my vote to San Francisco.

I think that an American version of Godzilla needs to take place in America simply because it'll be easier for us to connect to it. Not saying it'd be impossible if it took place in Japan, it just would feel weird to me. With the American company making it, I think Americans should stick to what we know, which is our own cities. Also, the recent earthquake brings up script concerns with Godzilla in Japan anyway.

According to this, it'll be international in scope and "a-(skreonk)ing-mazing".
Which sounds good. :huge:

I'd say multiple but not all over the world, Godzilla would spend most of the movie traveling

You could have a quick montage of him destroying all over the world but the majority needs to be in one city or two cities.

Multiple, but the last one gets more screentime than the rest (since that's most likely where the final conflict will occur)

Multiple attacks to show that Godzilla is a Radioactive Force of Destruction that can't be stopped. Although, the final attack should be the longest since it will show Godzilla vs the monster/monsters. :D

Seeing as when Goyer was hired, they mentioned Godzilla fighting monsters around the world...sounds like it's gonna be several cities.
