I always thought it'd be cool if he flew/traveled in his electric form. (So he's just electricity when he moves quickly)

Never been a big Gabara fan, but maybe thats just because of the movie. The ideas here certainly make him into a much more badass monster who i could actually grow to like.

A little too comic book for my taste. Not that its a bad idea, it just doesn't fit IMO. Maybe in a video game or cartoon?
I know where you are coming from though. Gabara isn't your typical Showa monster, and it just seems like he should have another ability.

Here is another comic book type idea, but maybe it fits a little better? Gabara can transport himself in short distances. Maybe that's a terrible idea too? LOL

Here's a question for you. Should Gabara have the ability to swim long distances?

That's an interesting question. Let's consider Gabara's character for a moment. He is sometimes referred to a feline monster (whether that is origin related or just based on appearances is up to you). If that's the case, it might be an interesting weak point for him. He could have a fear of water. This would allow the teleportation power you mentioned earlier to be utilized to it's fullest.

Not to give it away, but in the story I am writing, Gabara isn't the best swimmer, and can only swim short distances. But, thank you for your feedback!

Gabara has an interesting design, and I give him credit for being one of the few mammalian kaiju. I wouldn't mind seeing him return in the future.
Actually, I think Matt Frank's NEO design was an improvement on the original suit.

Nah. Gabara is supposed to look like a saggy-butted dumbass. Like a child dreamed him up. His derpy-ness is a part of his appeal. A redesigned Gabara loses what makes him so much fun.

I figured I'd make a topic about my favorite monster of the Godzilla series besides Godzilla himself: Gabara. I supose technicaly he doesn't exist but I've always thought he was one of the best monsters in the mid to late Showa Godzilla films, he just ended up in a sub par movie for kids. I loved the idea of him having the ability to electrocute other monsters with just a touch. I know he only existed in a dream but what if he went the Freddy Kruger route and killed monsters in their sleep? I guess I'm kinda just rambling on but I figured I'd go ahead and give Gabara some love.
