Troll Hunter (2010)

Image

(or 2011 for Americans)

I would've bumped the original Troll Hunter thread but it hadn't been touched in months. I had a theater 40 minutes away that was actually one of the few that was playing it, but I decided to hold out for the home release. Anyone seen it? Thoughts? Looks like it's been reasonably well received, given a score as high as Cloverfield on IMDb, for example.

Back on topic, it's coming in both formats on August 23rd and is available for pre-order pretty much anywhere I've looked (Walmart, Best Buy, Target, Amazon, etc). Here's their website.

Just thought some fellow monster movie fans would want to know.

It's a fun, silly movie from what I've heard. Need to check it out one of these days

Really? It looked a little more serious in tone from the trailer, particularly the rather violent slaughtering of the sheep on the Troll's part.

There's also one breed of Troll whose noses are based on dicks.

I guess it flip-flops around a little bit.

Way to contribute.

The screenshot looks cool enough, but I haven't followed any of the info on this film. But, all things considered, I will have to pirate it. Barely can afford gas to get around, much less buying DVDs.

I saw the trailer for this, and it looks like a pretty entertaining film. Apparently, it's supposed to be all B-movie-ish. I'm definately going to have to check this out. If I'm not mistaken, though, I thought I saw it on onDEMAND recently...

Oh goddamnit is this going to be like Cloverfield and Blair Witch? Shakey hand-cam footage?

From what I know, yes. I'm indifferent to it myself but I know plenty of people that don't like this camera style or feel that it's being overused.

I cant say Ive seen a TON of shakey-cam movies but with Cloverfield it got REAL annoying REAL fast.

Maybe this film will be the shiny twinkling gem in a sea of turds.

I think when I hope in my order for the new releases of Megalon and DAM, I will throw Troll Hunter and Behemoth on the order form too.

I snagged a dubbed version Im watching tonight. If I like it - I'll track down the DVD. If not, I'll just store it on the external hard drive.

Well I finally saw this. I liked it for the most part. It was a little odd how they try to explain trolls through science yet they were still attracted to the blood of Christians.

Also it had me thinking, what if they remake King Kong again and it's a found footage film just because the characters are making a movie? How horrible would that be? So a part of me wishes they had just done this movie the 'normal' way. With that inevitable American remake on the way that would be an interesting way to set it apart, but you know that's not going to happen.
