Those explosions are Rodan's sonic booms. Which makes no sense because he's flying very slowly.
Every film should have at least one animal attack.

The thing with that is...Ever go to an air show? Like, IDK if it has to do with size or whatever, but when the Thunderbirds break the sound barrier, you may feel the noise penetrate your very being, but nothing spontaneously explodes. you barely feel a gust of wind, unless they're flying really close to the ground.

And it still doesn't explain how the water just, explodes. don;t say that's supposed to be a sonic boom too, because you can SEE explosions right beneath the surface.

Godzilla vs Biollante has the best effects of any Godzilla movie.

Which special effect didn't work for you in Tokyo S.O.S.?

I can tell you which didn't for me in Godzilla vs. Biollante...

If Teruyoshi Nakano is the king of explosions, then Koichi Kawakita must be the king of sparks.

Best effects: Godzilla vs. Biollante.

Worst effects: Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II

I thought Godzilla VS Biollante had excellent effects through and through. But Godzilla's death scene as well as the Burning Godzilla suit were pretty awesome.

Godzilla vs Biollante. I don't know if it was because Kawakita was fresh to the series or if there was more money put into the production (both seem like they would be the case to me) but that film definitely shows what the man was capable of when the resources were available.

I think the effects in Godzilla vs Mechgodzilla and Godzilla vs Destroyer were generally good. The worst effects for me are in Godzilla vs King Ghidorah.

And honestly, I have never had a problem with the meteor scene in Space Godzilla. Did in look real? No. But it has a certain cartoonish/fantasy look that I think is not completely out of place in this film, especially considering Junior's design and some other elements.

KING GHIDORAH has it's fair share of sub par effects work (stiff King Ghidorah flying prop, Godzillasaurus stepping on the U.S. soldiers, the Dortas, etc.), but some of the stuff in GODZILLA VS. MOTHRA just makes me cringe. Mothra and Battra just look so...SO bad. Those marionettes are (IMO) the worst of anything seen from Kawakita. Seriously, Eiji Tsuburaya (most likely) would have been taken a back by how poorly done they were had he still been around.
