This is most likely what will happen.

We will find out that Goyer has STARTED on a script or something. Then that will be it.

Honestly I wish they would merge Pacific Rim with Godzilla. Why the hell make two monster movies that are close in content from the same movie studio. Derp.

I don't think we'd have a release date before we have a cast.

You kidding? If nothing comes out of a production for about 7 to 8 months, then you can assume its in development hell. At this point, we'll be lucky this thing even gets made.

The only thing I don't get is why Legendary doesn't seem to be giving this much attention. I mean, it's obviously a huge project for them considering the franchise and all -- but considering how many of their other films are already filming and have been casted and have release dates set, it just baffles me that they would take a certainly profitable license and then just sort of put it on the back-burner for projects which really don't have much leeway in the sense of brand identity or a long-standing film career.

I mean, I can understand the whole "testing the waters" thing with Pacific Rim... but that's not going to be released until Summer 2013. It just seems like a huge risk to take a massively profitable franchise and then sit around with it waiting to see if it's even worth taking a shot at. :|

What do you mean by "comes out of a production?"

They JUST brought on a new writer plus you have Toho's approval process. It'll be a little bit before we hear some more news

Well, I can understand that but Callaham submitted his final draft in October of 2010 whereby it was subsequently rejected by LP -- I would think that Toho's approval process would be finished between March 2010 and October at least (I'm just assuming, not saying definitively). It took LP a little over 8 months to finally hire Goyer to re-write... and it only took Callaham some 2 to 3 months to complete his script. I don't know how long it will take Goyer to complete his script, but if its something to top Callaham's unsatisfactory attempt it could be at least another 5 to 6 months.

I'm sorry, the whole situation is just frustrating and baffling to me. It's just odd how sluggish this project is while all of LP's other projects are moving like greased lightning.

It's Godzilla. They probably feel like getting stuff out they know the generl public still gives a damn about (Batman) and trying new stuff before they try something that the general public may no longer gives a shit about and be a total flop (Godzilla).

Zilla's and Living Corpses avatars just above and below one another could not have been any better if planned.
It is frustrating to wait for information for such long periods of time without being thrown little tidbits here and there (on something like a monthly basis). There isn't even enough information filtering out from the production to inspire rumors at this point. I'd be happy to read about some speculative casting possibilities have another vague soundbite-worthy comment from someone involved in the production.

All this is entirely normal for the film industry. They're putting millions behind this project. It's gotta be right.

Me too. I tried to scour the internet just to see if it had been leaked anywhere but, of course, my search was fruitless.

I know the script will be bad but it'd be interesting to read nonetheless...
