I've actually grown an attachment to Kiryu. It's not the best, but its design is beautifully crafted, and Kiryu seems to almost have a personality.

I especially liked the head on Kiryu, and how true it stayed with the g54 design, while the other two MGs weren't really based on a specific suit at all.

Wut? Kiryus head doesn't at all resemble the G'54 suit. It's head looks like it'd be at home on an actually robot dragon and not a dinosaur.

'74 Mechagodzilla looks like it was more based on the DAM suit. While the Heisei Mechagodzilla actually has a pretty similar shape to the actual Heisei Godzilla.

This topic kind of imploded but I'll say Kiryu is okay. I like him when he's not unconscious. You think after the first movie that wouldn't happen again.

Kiryu was my favorite MG design. It strongly resembles the original in many ways, but sleeker. I never liked the chrome doorstop from GvMGII, despite my affection for the movie.

I like Kiryu. I like how he seems to be a mix of the first and second MechaGodzillas in design. MG1 had a bit of a zeerust to his look, but MG2 almost seemed plastic in nature, like he was poured out of a mold. Kiryu is a good mixture of the two.

That being said, he still is the worst out of the 3. But that's saying a lot when considering he still is a great monster.

I liked him better in the second movie. I think he definitively defeated Goji. IMO, of course. None of the other MG's did that.

The Heisei Mechagodzilla killed him, if only briefly.

Godzilla didn't "come back" because he was thrown into the ocean while covered in silk during the last few minutes of the film.. There is no doubting that he survived. It's not like he can't breath underwater, and he wasn't suffering from a nasty wound like he was at the end of the previous film.

Teaming up with the newly-hatched twin Mothra larvae, Mechagodzilla was able to use his drill in his right arm and injured Godzilla's chest even more, eventually reaching, and tearing up his insides, causing Godzilla to bleed. While Godzilla screamed in pain, Mechagodzilla fired his Triple Hyper Maser at Godzilla, making Godzilla roar to show Kiryu his flash back to Yoshito. Godzilla was then wrapped up by the twin Mothra larvae web. Unable to fight, Godzilla dropped to the ground. Mechagodzilla broke free of Akiba's control, but instead of finishing his battle, he merely subdued him and carried Godzilla out to sea. After releasing Yoshito to safety, Kiryu plunged into the depths with his counterpart and was never seen again. This is the second and final time Mechagodzilla succeeded in subduing Godzilla.
Wikipedia excerpt. Godzilla WAS suffering from a nasty wound. Godzilla WAS defeated.

Whats your point?

Kiryu killed itself in process. And Godzilla is definitely still alive.

This. I like his design and powers, but I'd like it better if he wasn't unconscious 70% of the time in BOTH movies.

Watch the scene where Rodan revives him again. Godzilla is clearly dead; eyes still open, mouth open, and no motion whatsoever. He's got the "anime dead look" going.

Yeah, you're probably right. If I recall correctly, Godzilla's lower brain is what controls his body, and his upper brain is the one that relays information to the lower and thinks. So, Godzilla was paralyzed by the destruction of his lower brain, but was still alive, in one of the lowest forms possible.

I just did that bcasueyou said something about a horrible wound. Also, I think Kiryu did a good job of getting rid of Goji. Sure it was a temporary, volatile, unsuccessful fix, ut thn again, involving Godzilla, aren't they all? :) Godzilla didnt come back in the same film. That was it. Screen Time over.

So basically a vegetative state? He's alive but he might as well be dead since he can't even blink let alone move.
