Huh? Heisei MG doesn't have a gut at all. If anything, Showa MG is the one with the beer belly.

I liked MG2 a little more than Kiryu. MG2 just seemed to have a bit more to offer as a monster. It had the laser eyes, Mega-Buster, Plasma Grenade, Paraylzer missiles, a Garuda super mode, and one of the only weapons to ever kill Godzilla, the G-Crusher. Although I think that he was responsible for the supposed "beam wars" of the Heisei series, it kind of felt appropriate for his character. He's a military machine designed to shoot stuff at Godzilla until he fell down. T&C weren't really options when he weighed so much and could have his weapons damaged in a up-close fight. It's a pretty good monster, if a tad bland in appearance.

You're right, I should have said a bloated pelvic paunch beneath the gut. The appearance of being "fat" is amplified by the massive thighs, and it all add ups to one bottom-heavy mech.

^Remember that the Heisei series was infamous for having kaijuu with "thunder thighs."

I don't really see what you are referring to Cimmerian dragon...

and I see a proportionally fine mech. Sure it could have used a larger tail and a slightly bigger head but it doesn't really seem bottom heavy. Also, when MechaG turns into Super MechaG, both the top and bottom are perfectly balanced.

Seems to me, he has no belly either, if the cutter beam hatch ends in his sternum... Just a large diaphragm and a pelvic region. I also noted that MG mach 2 has a different torso built.

MGII certainly looks best in a head-on shot, and when well-lit against a black background. Once you hit a 3/4 shot, where you can get all that awesome "thigh action" involved, it starts to look pretty plump to me. Emphasizing the "to me" part. You can like it all you want. Hell I "like' it, I just think it lacks the personality of MG74 or the sleek and weaponized style of Kiryu, thus I like those designs better.

I think he's really awesome. Slick, metallic, with those cool ball jointed arms and legs, and some cool weapons to boot. I agree that he is more of a vehicle than an actual monster, but I think he still serves his purpose well and that he is a great looking creation.

Of the three MechaGodzilla designs this was by far my least favorite. I loved Kiryu's design/personality the best and Showa MechaG's arsenal and role as antagonist. This design (stumpy tail and all) is just so plain. He may have been the most powerful, but he certainly wasn't the most memorable IMO.

You mean the most powerful MechaG? Maybe he was a great danger to Godzilla, but in a one on one fight with the other 2 Mechs hed probably just fall down from his lack of maneuverability. And if they got into hand to hand combat... Even if hes bigger, a few karate chops or punches would floor him for good. And i dont think missiles bode to well for that guy.

I don't know... Kiryu's mobility might take down MG'93, but I'm pretty sure the plasma grenade would knock over or possibly finish MG'74.

Well Kiryu was fast but not Megaguirus fast. I'm sure he couldn't avoid the Plasma Grenade forever. There's just too much of a size difference to call this fair at all.

Im think MG's megabuster would sort him out fast. Unlike the radioactive ray it requires no charge time and Kiryu probably had some memory of the radioactive ray and the more refined areas of the process from his skeleton within. No such luck with Heisei MG here. Or Showa Mechagodzilla for that matter.

Like several other people here, Heisei MG is my least favorite incarnation of the monster. Although it resembles Godzilla much better than the original, it does absolutely nothing except spam beams. I know that the Showa version was a beam spammer as well, but that made it stand out in the Showa series. In the Heisei series, everything is a beam spammer; MG just has more beams than most. Also, the Showa version at least has some melee capabilities; Heisei MG is totally inept at this.

BTW, TokyoVigillante wasn't wrong. I watched a VHS of the film in Japanese once, and after the end of the film there were deleted scenes; one of which was the exact scene TV mentioned.

Yeah, it was supposed to go at the beginning of the film during the training montage. The G-Force crew suddenly found themselves fighting Ghidora and Mothra (via stock footage). Haven't seen it in a while but I think Aoki is fooled into thinking this is an actual battle and is embarrassed when he discovered it was just a training exercise.

Heisei Mechagodzilla lacks the personality of Showa MG, but I still like it nonetheless. He's a cold, soulless machine, but then again that is the point after all. Unfortunately he was too plump to really do much at close range.

Sadly, the VHS didn't give subtitles for these scenes, so I had no idea what was going on.

Probably my least favorite Mechagodzilla design. The concept arts for him are a million times cooler than the actual design they used.
