This looks stupid.....but it looks like it could be an entertainingly stupid. Also, Liam Neeson had better say "You sunk my battleship!".

The trailer remind me of Transformers. This like it can be a fun movie, I think they added Aliens since they feel like it's the only way that they can have a Battleship movie work.

I'm a sucker for naval battles, and throw in some aliens? Damn, color me excited. Still has the potential to be incredibly stuipid.

Looks like a contender for dumbest movie ever made.

That said I'm seeing it opening weekend for the alien ship that fires hit pegs alone.

Watched the trailer. Yup, just as idiotic and brainless as I imagined it would be.

My friend thinks this movie will be Battle: LA all over again. I can see why thought adding Aliens would be a good idea since they think having ships from the US against ships from Korea or Iran ships would be boring.

Also, with the international markets being so important to the studios anymore. I think the studios don't want to alienate(No pun intended.) any the potential audience out there. While the original Battleship game is based on the Pacific Theater during the Second World War, Universal probably doesn't want offend that market either. So it's going to be "Military Vs. Aliens" from here on out. Unless aliens really do show up. Then it's "Military Vs. Mole People". Although with this flick, I was hoping for an undersea civilization being the heavy here.

This movie cost 200 million to make and plus another 50 million to market the movie. Unless the movie gets good reviews then I doubt it's going to make back it's budget.

Actually reviews really do contribute to a movies performance at the box office. Good reviews = hype. The only noticeable exceptions in recent years have been the Transformers films.

Recent movies like In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale (2008), Land of Lost (2009), Skyline (2010), My Soul to Take (2010), Mars needs Mom's (2011) and Green Lantern (2011) all did poorly because of the bad rep that they got. Bad looking trailers tend to turn people off as well, people skip out on Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World (2010) because they thought the movie look stupid.

I could imagine people doing the same since it seem like comments about this movie have been negative. People on the web are saying it looks really stupid.

The only noticeable exceptions in recent years have been the Transformers films.

2010 Clash of the Titans remake did great even if it got shitty reviews. It was the highest grossing movie of 2010 until the very end of the year when more family films started to come out.

I'm still on the fence about reviews making or breaking a flick. HULK(2003). ALIEN NATION. COLLATERAL DAMAGE. ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT. AMERICAN WEDDING. All the former got decently reviewed ,and ended up failing. THE JURASSIC PARK TRILOGY. PREDATOR. COMMANDO. ALIENS. CADDY SHACK.TRANSFORMERS:THE MOVIE. All of which got flogged by the critics in their day, are the classics we love today. Heck, CADDY SHACK, when I see listed, still only gets two stars in the listings.
