Recent movies like
In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale (2008),
Land of Lost (2009),
Skyline (2010),
My Soul to Take (2010),
Mars needs Mom's (2011) and
Green Lantern (2011) all did poorly because of the bad rep that they got. Bad looking trailers tend to turn people off as well, people skip out on
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World (2010) because they thought the movie look stupid.
I could imagine people doing the same since it seem like comments about this movie have been negative. People on the web are saying it looks really stupid.
The only noticeable exceptions in recent years have been the Transformers films.
2010 Clash of the Titans remake did great even if it got shitty reviews. It was the highest grossing movie of 2010 until the very end of the year when more family films started to come out.
