 Hey all, I was wondering if Mothra 1961 will be back on dvd. I know there is the Toho Collection that has the movie on it but I would like to see it on a dvd by itself if that could be possible. Thx. :D

Don't hold your breath. You should pick up that Toho Collection set, though. The Mothra film looks great, you get both cuts of the film plus a great audio commentary by the folks who made the Classic Media Gojira Commentary. Plus you get the other two Toho films The H-Man and Battle in Outer Space, which are plenty entertaining in their own right.

Sony is only selling MOTHRA as part of the TOHO COLLECTION DVD set. And the set is the way to go because all three movies are well worth seeing and the set is inexpensive... Amazon is currently offering the TOHO COLLECTION for $7.49, which works out to about $2.50 per movie.

You won't be wasting your money with that one. Besides the questionable packaging, in my opinion the set is almost as good as the Classic Media G movies.

The reason I'm asking about it is that I had that dvd when some of the godizilla films started to come out back in the early 90's here in Northern California I recall buying them at Fry's Electronics in Sunnyvale CA and now is lost to where I would like to replace it. But thanks for the Info.

At the price KPA mentioned, there's no reason NOT to get it. Plus you get two other great films.

You must be mistaken. No Godzilla DVDs at all were released until 1998, and Sony never released MOTHRA on DVD until they put out the TOHO COLLECTION in 2009.

Didn't the Simitar DVDs come out in 1998? True they wheren't officially licensed or maybe they where but I'm pretty sure they where out in 1998 to cash in on the GINO hype, I know they where out in 1999 because I got GvsMZ and Godzilla vs Mothra while on vacation in Florida.

I was always under the impression they were licensed. Though I think Simitar's downfall had to do with licensing issues with some other properties..

I agree I've been wanting to watch the trilogy because I sort of enjoy it, however the stuff airing on Encore/Starz is crappy picture quality (worse than DVD) and the versions I downloaded last night are equally as bad. Supposedly though there's that huge Godzilla set rumored to be coming out on DVD which will include all the Heisei films Sony has, RoM1-3 and G2K they'll all include the Japanese versions uncut though we probably won't see that until LP G comes out.

I didn't know ROM 3 was released over here. :?: I went looking for it on Amazon a couple of months ago and couldn't find it. I would like to get all three as well, as I've only seen the first one.

It's only been on TV it hasn't gotten a DVD release yet.

It's aired on Sci-Fi and it airs on the Starz/Encore channels occasionally.

^ Everyone Here Would Love that but since the 28 Godzilla Films are owned by different companies,
that is a little Imposible...

The US distribution rights to the Godzilla films are split up among too many different companies for the US to ever get a Final Box type of set, most likely. It doesn't help that there are so many of them. The only way we'd ever get it is through bootlegs.

Still, the rumored set that was mentioned sounds very nice. I'll assume it includes all the other G films Sony has the rights to, including GINO, which for the record are:
Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster
Son of Godzilla
Godzilla vs. Hedorah
Godzilla vs. Gigan
Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla
Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah
Godzilla vs. Mothra (Battle for Earth)
Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II
Godzilla vs. Spacegodzilla
Godzilla vs. Destoroyah
GODZILLA
Godzilla 2000
Godzilla vs. Megaguirus
Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack
Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla
Godzilla: Tokyo SOS
Godzilla: Final Wars

That sounds like a great set. Along with CM's box set, one could pick up the vast majority of the series very easily.
