In my opinion, Godzilla should have no direct sidekick. Have an enemy monster team up with him at the end, but don't give him a buddy at the beginning. Think Rodan in GTTHM

That's the kind of stuff that people see when they watch the fun Showa flicks and makes them think he's "gay" and just reinforces the sterotypes of the franchise. I'm not saying this film has to be the second coming (giggity) of G 1954 or even super dark and gritty with no comic relife or any fun but it needs to be somewhat serious so people don't just laugh it off and say "I'll pass and go see that new Batman movie instead".

See this something I disagree with. Wheter this is campy children's fare or insanely gritty and pessimistic, that fraction of the mainstream audience that sees the genre as trash won't give a damn. They'll pass and see the new Batman movie all the same.

Instead of being a "Look people, you should take Godzilla seriously" kind of film it should be a "This is what Godzilla is like, got a problem with it?" film. It should fully embrace what has made the franchise popular in the first place.

Then again why should I care, I'm seeing this movie regardless of what others think

Precisely, it should be fun for us to see Godzilla on theaters again, not some "Oh I'm worried about its performance" affair.
Every film should have at least one animal attack.

...Godzilla didn't have a sidekick until, like...5 or so films into his franchise. And even still, it wasn't until the 70s that we got a "sidekick" monster.

He was popular long before his sidekicks appeared.

And your reasoning is faulty. What made the franchise popular in the mid-20th century will not work in the early 21st century. Tastes and standards in entertainment change. Its like saying Batman(1966) will work today because it was what made the Batman franchise popular in the 60s.

He shouldn't be given a buddy or anything, but I'd love to see Godzilla and Anguirus/Rodan team up against a stronger foe after duking it out once or twice. Preferable Anguirus. 'Cause he's awesome. And I love him.

If he had to team up with anyone I'd say Rodan cause the guy needs to be badass again. He hasn't been badass since the 60's and it'd be nice to see him be Godzilla's equal again.

I heard there were going to be multiple monsters. Maybe the Earth Defenders could band together.

No. No 'side kicks,' no allies.

If there's gonna be an enemy monster, fine. I can live with that. But I want no sidekicks.

I think it should be saved for future (ha) films, but if so, Anguirus and/or Rodan. Minya should DEFINITELY be held off till a future film, Mothra's been done to death in the recent Toho films...though it would be neat to see Godzilla and Adult Mothra team up for the first time (I don't really count Final Wars, there was no interaction between the two)

Ok, this may be a minority response, but I always liked Baragon. I think that he was a Kaiju that was never truly used to his fullest potential and should have been the elemental opposite of Godizlla (Godzilla = Water / Baragon = Fire). Seeing the two fight in the first film would lead to an excellent team up for a sequel once they came to respect each other's fighting ability. So I could see them as partners, if not as respected rivals.

Anguirus is my second choice because I fully believe that Goji & Angi are real BFFs. Also because Anguirus lacks any special attacks, he falls into a respected sidekick status alongside Godzilla's Mega-Class Kaiju status.

I think my fav would be Anguirus. He was the first monster Godzilla ever fought, but was not the first sidekick he ever had. Therefore if Godzilla was to have a sidekick, I would jump Anguirus to Rodan or Mothra.

i think varan and angurius should be his ally because anguirus is godzillas best friend and varan because he needs to redeem himself and has good potential

No sidekicks for me, please.

If this movie is going to be about Godzilla as an all-powerful badass beast outta hell, then allies would somewhat diminish that image. I can see allies working well for any possible sequel, though.

EDIT: Actually, the possibility of more than two monsters has been mentioned. Perhaps, to reinforce the whole "king of the monsters" title, Godzilla's enemy monster should have its own ally, just to give Goji that extra bit of hell that he can try to overcome. Kinda like in Terror of MechaGodzilla.
