G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation (2013)

Postby Hellspawn28 » Sat Jul 09, 2011 9:14 am

I know that there is a GI Joe thread but that is for the TV shows and this is for the sequel that comes out in August 2012. The sequel is being directed Jon Chu (Never Say Never) and only three of the actors from the first movie are returning. Dwayne Johnson is cast as Roadblock and it just been announced that Ray Stevenson (Punisher: War Zone) will be playing the main villain in the movie.

I did enjoy the first movie but this movie is going to suck. This movie has the same signs that Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (1997) had. Just like with MKA, the director and half of the cast did not return. Not to mention that they got someone worst for the director.

Never seen the first one just yet, might watch it tomorrow but I'm up for it. I don't remember who roadblock is but the rock will do an excellent job.

If they do a third film with Sargent Slaughter, no if ands or buts Don Frye NEEDS TO PLAY HIM!

How about Sgt. Slaughter plays Sgt. Slaughter?

Anyways, I have absolutely zero expectations for this film. The first one was meh, and the Baroness's ass, er, looks will be missed.

If he wasn't old as balls and in even worse shape than when he was actively wrestling, sure.

I liked the first one, but it wasnt anywhere NEAR as good as it could've been. Alittle bit too cartoony. TF went out of it's way to avoid the cartoonishness where GI Joe embraced it and it hurt the film.

Id like a GI Joe movie that takes place AFTER the 1990s where the Joes are either retired or mercs. Kurt Russell is still perfect as Duke. And honestly, Id give Clint Eastwood the roll of Hawk. He doesnt need to be an action hero to be a kick ass leader.

GI Joe was around during the time of big heroes...

Duke - Kurt Russell
Flint - Sylvester Stallone
Hawk - Clint Eastwood
Wetsuit - Jason Statham
Leatherneck - Fred Ward
Snake Eyes - Ray Park
Lady Jaye - Charlotte Ross
Scarlett - Charlize Theron
Cover Girl - Kaley Cucoco (make her the daughter of the original)
Sgt Slaughter as HIMSELF. The character was based off him, anyone else playing him is fail.
Wataru
TK's Resident Comic Book God & Raggedy Ann Enthusiast.
Sandy Frank dubs. All others are fail.

Topher: "What's your super power?"
Chase: (opens switch-blade) "A poor upbringing."

I thought the first one was decent, but I don't know about this. It's been a while since I watched it, so I'll probably have to watch it again to be sure, but I don't remember the acting being great. I don't know. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I hope it's bigger, louder, goofier, and embraces the fact that it's based on a line of plastic army men more then the first. The first is a guilty pleasure of mine.

GL is doing poorly at the box office, so a sequel is unlikely now. A better example would be "If this can get a sequel I guess something like I Am Number Four can get a sequel too". GI Joe is getting a sequel because did well at the box office and it did make back it's money back. If shitty movies like GINO and the AVP films where able to get back their budget then GI Joe was able to as well.

Well to be fair, June was apparently it's worst since 2000 as many films while successful haven't been able to beat their original films such as Kung Fun Panda 2 and the hangover part 2.

WB could just say skreeonk it regardless of it's earning and still do a sequel and there's still news that they're doing it.

But back to G.I. Joe. From what I saw pictures of, Cobra Commander doesn't have his mask dealy. GIVE HIM HIS MASK DEALY!

Joseph Mazzello (Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park and The Social Network) is set to play Mouse.

http://collider.com/joseph-mazzello-g-i-joe-2/105786/

From what I read that Mouse is a character that did not exist in the TV shows or the comics.

The movie's due out on June 29 next year which, to me, seems impossible considering production hasn't even started yet. Unless Paramount plans on rushing this thing out...which is likely. Oh, and it seems the movie's now being called G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

This movie is going to be a total failure. Just wait for them to reboot this in five or ten years from now.

This movie gonna be great IMO. Many GI joe fans will come and see this release. It would be a nice sequel to the first movie released.

Well, not very scientific, they mainly consisted of whacking a variety of pens with GI Joe swords. The pen always lost.

The trailer has been released:

The trailer was alright and I'm still not sure about this movie. Maybe a second trailer will change my mind about the film.
