I'd vote none, but there's no option for that. Too many monsters in this movie will overshadow the Godzilla character itself at a time when the spotlight needs to be on him.

Notice my poll says favorite sidekick monster. You can say if you don't want one but stop complaining that there isn't a NO option. Like Biollante says, just don't vote if you don't have a fav.

I'd say my favorite monster to sidekick for Godzilla is Anguirus, but I definitely don't think he should have a sidekick in his first (real) American movie. Save that for a little later. Also, they need to beat the hell out of each other first. I always liked that about Godzilla's sidekicks: they start as enemies, then over the course of battle learn to respect each other, and decide to join forces. It feels really right for monsters to operate that way.

I'd love to see some form of Minya/Godzilla Jr. pop up, but again, save that for a later movie. This first one should just be Godzilla, a cannon fodder monster(s) and the villain monster.

I don't think "sidekick" is the best description. Momentary ally? I could live with that.

I'd say Rodan deserves the title of BFF, personally.

They were both Enemies to begin with, i think this should be a solo mission for Godzilla

I voted Gorosaurus because I have to....

Overall though, no please not. It made sense in the Showa era, not now. The only one that could maybe make sense to a modern audience would be Mothra due to some psychic influence.

Jet-Jaguar, or any other anthropomorphic Kaiju they can get their hands on. Ultraman is out of the question I guess. Additionally Godzilla should behave in a very man-like manner; making gestures, laughing and coming up with ideas.

Immature? Yes. But I agree with him. That's the kind of stuff that people see when they watch the fun Showa flicks and makes them think he's "gay" and just reinforces the sterotypes of the franchise. I'm not saying this film has to be the second coming (giggity) of G 1954 or even super dark and gritty with no comic relife or any fun but it needs to be somewhat serious so people don't just laugh it off and say "I'll pass and go see that new Batman movie instead".

Then again why should I care, I'm seeing this movie regardless of what others think or if I think it looks like shit so I can do a review of it XD

I think that Anguirous would makefor the best sidekick, if only because the two of them have quite the history with one another.

But seriously, I don't think Godzilla should have a "Sidekick" monster. The only way I can see something like that working is if he and the other monster were to be fighting when the true 'Villan' monter arrives. Both Goji and the other monster get curb-stomped individually, before they team up to take dow the threat...

The problem here is that you asked a question with the title, which again was "Should Godzilla have a sidekick monster". However, that apparently has nothing to do with your poll you say, which obviously is cause for confusion and criticism, no offense.

It'd be like me asking "Do you like the Heisei series" and then having a poll of which movie was your favorite. Two different things.

I don't want an ally, but if they do I go with Rodan. He needs some of his star power brought back.

I think Anguirus is most known as an Ally than others but i think Rodan deserves another opportunity. but i doubt
that they will appear in the movie. But who Knows...
