Let's also pretend that Kotm was the rule and not the expectation. B level movies can't make 500m twice and while Kotm's 385 was bad it wasn't horrible when you consider bigger bombs as well.

While I want a trailer here and now, we're a little over 4 months away from the movie. That's still a decent amount of time to promote this film. KOTM proved that there's no need for a super drawn out promotional campaign.

So, in case no one wants to risk moving through the spoiler thread. I wrote into a movie show that I follow in regards to the promotion, and got picked.

I thought Rob made a good point. Some end year movies coming out, and oscar season around the corner. We could be looking at a potential December promotion market. Nothing confirmed of course, just his speculation.

Another big thing people aren't really talking about here is that because the release date is so close to KOTM, GVK doesn't need a big campaign to remind people Godzilla exists. In a way it's riding the tailwinds of Godzilla King of the Monsters.

You want a big Godzilla hit? Ditch the other monsters take Godzilla and aim him straight at Tokyo. Godzilla vs. Tokyo that’s what people want. They want him knocking over buildings and killing Tokyo people. Keep it to 90 mins and release it on 4th of July.

Or lack of tailwinds thereof considering hardly anyone outside of fans saw KOTM anyway and critics just hated it. If anything, it showed normies that Godzilla is something to avoid or something. I only hope GvK can right the ship, good marketing or not. It is good that they're not drowning us with trailers a year early like KOTM did though. No hype is better than mistimed hype that dies before the movie comes out.

The first KOTM trailer hit with a bang and then nothing new for quite a stretch, they’re better off unleashing a major hype train that comes out with solid momentum and doesn’t let up.

Godzilla is a franchise where GA isn’t going to hype over the next film for a year plus, show them footage just before they can actually go see it and you have a better shot at winning their attention, only fans like us thrive on a year’s worth of marketing and they know we’re already well aware that it’s coming.
