Awesome, this is exactly what I've been waiting for since I'm getting the Gigantic G19, they should scale more or less the same. Hope the painted version has the quality and detail that matches the Gigantic.

You'll get your $80 supah artikulated!!! figures, don't worry.

technically I don't collect those either, though I am considering the shin forms.

Regardless compare a knifehead 2.0 from NECA to a raijin from bandai, knifehead was half the price of the raijin vinyl when he first came out and has a better sculpt and 4 times more articulation. Do I fault people for liking them, no all collectors are different and should be respected as such. I personally find them to be a massive waste of potential when there are people who can make them much better

Why? There's no reason to compare the two unless you want to start stupid petty fights over two completely different styles of figures.

The Raijin vinyl was a premium series figure released for a specific audience. The NECA Knifehead is a mass produced figure for a much wider audience. This is like comparing an X-PLUS figure to a Marmit figure.

Raijin retailed for $39.99 and Knifehead was $29.99. Nitpicking, but that's not half the price.

Some people don't give a shit about articulation and just want a representation of a character in their collection. Bandai's vinyl figures are cheap ways for people to grab a character without spending $40-100.

And...how on Earth can you compare the sculpts if they're two completely different designs and characters? That just makes no sense.
master_of_monsters wrote: I personally find them to be a massive waste of potential when there are people who can make them much better
Again, not really a waste of potential if they're not striving to be anything more than what they are. They're not trying to compete with the super articulated figures so it's nonsensical and childish to compare them.

I'm just gonna pop in and say that the Bandai Godzilla 1964 is the best 6 inch representation of the character, apart from his odd color scheme:

I'm excited, Kong doesn't get nearly the collectible representation that Godzilla does and I love Kong, this will likely look much nicer than the cartoony Lanard Kong and better than anything Playmates from 2005. Now if only someone would do a nice Baker Kong finally, I'd be a happy monster fan.

Thiccness isn't bad, they just look so out of wack with the rest of the body.

If anything, the film's skinny-ass necks and tiny heads look way worse than the SHMA's proportions.

Yeah I have to agree. While I like slithery snake necks, they seem a little too scrawny sometimes, they shouldn't be thinner than Godzilla's arms!

Though for me, I like both SHMA and Movie designs. A middle ground with slightly thicker but still lanky looking necks would be nice.

now that I think about it, it kind of reminds me of a gripe I had with the cleric beast from bloodborne and having more physical strength than his design would suggest

I've followed the designer on DeviantArt for quite some time and he makes it sound like it will at least be partially made out of vinyl. Would help keep the price down at least

I’m surprised there aren’t more pics of those Bandai vinyl figures at NYCC

I very much consider TFA to be half-assed. What a generic film which only fed on nostalgia, it brought nothing new to the table.
That's not true. C3PO had a red arm.

If you're talking about the Kong, Spacegodzilla and Destoroyah figures, those were not at NYCC. They were at a licensing expo in Europe the week before.
