The lack of movie accuracy regarding certain monsters, namely Godzilla 90's, G54 is somewhat more decent but is basically a clone of G90's, Showa Mechagodzilla, not only does he look messed-up, his roar is completely inaccurate (at least he has a cool intro), and multiple kaiju being given breath weapons despite the fact they lacked one in their debut films. There's also G:Unleashed's messy storyline.

Honestly, I can only say so many negative things about DAMM and STE... but I can certainly complain about Unleashed quite a bit.

Their reasons for excluding Hedorah were... strange. When all is said and done, it doesn't need to transform into its flying form; it could have just stayed in its final form, as it tends to in most of the games it appears in. Also, why exactly would it need to use cel-shading? I don't recall the original Hedorah's style using such a thing.

Titanosaurus, King Caesar, and Varan were turned into Heisei monsters.

King Ghidorah's design looks... strange. Either design it after the 1991 or 2001 designs; a hybrid of the two simply looks off.

Krystalak and Obsidiuos look much worse than the Trading Battle original kaiju. I would have preferred Balkzardan and Razin over those two, even if that was never going to happen.

Mutants and Aliens get the short end of the stick in terms of story mode. Sure, they can still destroy the power surge crystals, but it doesn't matter how much of a paragon you are; if you choose an Alien or a Mutant, you are stuck with a bad ending.

In spite of the unique stage gimmicks (volcanic Seattle, tundra Sydney, galactic London), the stages themselves have absolutely no atmosphere whatsoever.

The music isn't necessarily bad, but it is a touch generic... with the exception of Biollante's theme, which is quite good.

Beam attacks are extremely unsatisfying. Godzilla games in general never seem to get this right, but especially so in Unleashed; not only do the beam attacks do minimal damage, they don't have much impact on the monster you use them on either.

DAMM was good. STE was DAMM with dlc that had an expanded roster. Unleashed was a updated patch that crashed the game.

Accurate beams and accompanying sound effects would've been nice.

The used copy of Melee I purchased had no manual and I can no longer remember how to play it.

Godzilla: Unleashed happened.

Unleashed's faction system makes no sense. I mean, what did Varan do to be a Earth Defender? Have a few seconds of screentime in "Destroy All Monsters"?

The games have no connection or continuity with the movies.

Every incarceration in the game has new origins, powers and motives

I thought it was really dumb that they added brand new monsters in Unleashed.

Especially since they're treated really pointlessly. It's not like Krystalaak or Obsidius are final bosses, or integral to the story. They're sort of just spawn of Space Godzilla. I'm not against adding a new monster, as a major antagonist to give a game it's own sense of identity but yeah they were lame and wasted. Easily two slots that could have gone to a ton more deserving monsters like Hedorah, Zilla, Monster X, Kamacuras, Kumonga etc....

Well Hedorah could've totally been added but they wanted some weird non-screen accurate cel-shading or something and when they couldn't get it right, they just decided to scrap the monster entirely.

I don't mind Obsidius. He's kind of generic, but I really like his simplistic design. Plus, he's something we haven't really seen before in the Godzilla franchise (living rock monster).

Krystalak though, is pretty bad.

There were quite a few OC kaiju up for consideration, The Visitor, Lightning Bug, and the Fire Lion, all which looked pretty bad.

Can’t really describe Visitor but Lightning Bug looked like a War of the Monsters reject and the Fire Lion was a blatant King Caesar ripoff.

I agree, I would have rather gotten Zone Fighter or Monster X or something in place of the two original kaiju we got

I hate how repetitive it is and how it has zero replay value after beating the game with a monster from each faction.

I hate that you can’t get a different ending if you align Godzilla with the aliens or something
