Re: A Proposed Showa Timeline Theory
Never understood why it was so important to have every film from that era be "canon" to one another.
Check out the PG version of my short film, "Destroy All Sisters".

It doesn’t matter to most fans but the younger audience seem to go nuts over the lack of continuityCrazy Jim Films wrote:Never understood why it was so important to have every film from that era be "canon" to one another.

Re: A Proposed Showa Timeline Theory
Which is fine but making a list doesn't really change the continuity issues. It was pretty obvious the producers weren't overly concerned with making a coherent storyline when they put it together.Stump Feet wrote:It doesn’t matter to most fans but the younger audience seem to go nuts over the lack of continuity

Re: A Proposed Showa Timeline Theory
It works if they pretend hard enough I guess.
IMO, I prefer the lack of continuity, makes each entry easy to follow for new comers. You're able to come in and choose any movie and you won't be too confused.

Yeah I like it too. Also it's not like there's really anything that contradicts each other, sure it's loose continuity but they flow nicely together.Stump Feet wrote:It works if they pretend hard enough I guess.

Re: A Proposed Showa Timeline Theory
Well i have had a similar theory for years but you got the timeline rather incorrect.
970 BC Susanō vs. The Three headed serpent
111 The tale of Ōsu
1952 Gezora, Ganime, Kameba: Decisive battle! Giant monsters of the south sea (Just a guess from the attire and lack of knowledge of Monsters)
1953 Transparent Man (Christmas time before Godzilla)
1954 Godzilla
1955 Strange man: The Snowman (New year)
1955 Godzilla's Counterattack (November)
1956 Giant sky monster: Radon!
1957 Earth Defense Force
1958 Giant Monster: Varan
1959 Beauty and Liquid men
1960 Electrical man
1960 Dr. Bowen
1960 Gas man no. 01
1960 Mothra
1961 King Kong vs. Godzilla
1962 Mothra vs. Godzilla
1963 Matango
1963 Undersea Warship
1964 Space Monster: Dogora
1964 Three Giant Monsters: Earth's Greatest Battle
1965 Great Space War
1965 Frankenstein vs. Subterranean Monster: Baragon
1966 Frankenstein's Giant Monsters: Sanda vs. Gaila
1966 Godzilla, Ebira, Mothra: Great duel in the south sea!
1966 Flying Battleship (Even though it is unmade it is the only unmade film i consider completely canon)
1967 Monster Island's decisive battle: Godzilla's son
1967 King Kong's Counterattack (Except i have no further insight on how Kong was "never seen")
1968 Great Monster War
1969 Latitude Zero
1969 Godzilla, Minilla, Gabara: All Monsters Great Attack!
1972 Godzilla vs. Hedora
1973 Godzilla vs. Gigan
1974 Godzilla vs. Megalo
1974 ESPY
1975 Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla
1976 Mechagodzilla's Counterattack
1976 - 1978 Meteorite Man: Zone!
1979 Godzilla vs. Mecha-Ghidorah (From a magazine article serving as an ambiguous end for the Shōwa era Godzilla)
1982 Mystery Star: Goras (Except maybe Goras doesn't eat the moon since it is in The Monster Absolute Advancement)
1988 The Great Planet War: THE WAR IN SPACE
1994 Monster Absolute Advancement! (It says the end of the 20th century but later a newspaper date says 1994)
2075 Meister Titanosaur's Counterattack (A Shortstory that serves as a sequel to Mechagodzilla's Counterattack)
I hope you enjoy the timeline and sorry about using the titles i am used to, but i like to.
Technically this is edited from the timeline of a comic series i am working on which normally has some alterations and it employs the Heisei and Millennium films plus the 1998 American film.
