Steelbook or bust. Also my Netflix free trial expired and I didn't get to watch the trilogy so I'm hoping for a physical release now lol.

Toho is definitely looking to expanding Godzilla's presence in animation.

I hope this is separate and won’t replace live action. Good news though to give the anime more chances.

about to rewatch Planet Eater once more. be back in the next hour or so.

EDIT: SO i came back from a nap to wash away the film in my mind because wow....they should have named it GODZILLA vs. The Boredom Creator because that's exactly what it is.

I'll admit it drags a little at the start but the second Metphees grabs the Mothra twin is when my attention peaks substantially.

And the confrontation between Godzilla and Ghidorah is the highlight of the movie, the way he glows is beautiful imo, really makes the struggle breath taking

I agree, at least for the humans.

One thing I did like about the CGI in the Monster Planet Trilogy (there`s going to be more Godzilla anime so we can`t just call it the Anime Trilogy) is that it did give Godzilla a lot of weight. If they did some weird hybrid thing, where Godzilla, and big things like cities and monsters, were CGI that could be cool.

Have to disagree with you there, I hate anytime they incorporate CGI in animation, looks so off and ruins any scene that features it for me.

No reason they cant add a since of gravity and weight though animation

That`s true, but if they just do regular 2-D animation, they should somehow switch the style, or at least detail the monsters way more to give the monsters weight.

Basically, I don`t want a flat angle of two monsters fighting. I want the "camera" to be looking up at the monsters.

Well y'know I'm glad they will at least keep giving it a go but Christ they gotta at the very least improve the writing and the characters A LOT. Plus yeah I'd rather have 2D.

Or at least the CGI animation be as sexy as say from Mazinger Z Infinity.

Yeah that movie made me go 'oh okay maybe it was just poor CGI that made me dislike it in animation.'

By Madhouse. One movie is all I need, doesn't need to be a trilogy.

I mostly agree. I've seen it done well, but few and far between. If it doesn't look good in a test, then you have the wrong animators for the job and should just pick one. It's ironically more jarring than bad cgi mixed with bad practical fx.

Whether it's 2D or 3DCG, I personally don't mind either as long as they look good. However...if they're gonna go with the second option, I'd like to see something akin to the style of the Monster Hunter cinematic openings and cutscenes.

Or something even better because while I was willing to accept it the first go around, I don't wanna see the Polygon Pictures style in the future.

It certainly won't, why would Toho do something like that?

Wonder if they're planning to let Anno do an anime sequel to Shin Godzilla?

I honestly feel Toho is letting Shin Godzilla go to waste. It made 75m in Japan.

I mean in my opinion, Shin doesn't need a sequel and continuing the story would only diminish the original, but I could be swayed if Anno did it though animation.
