As both lifeforms entered the molten mixture, the concentration of the compound known as ambrosia in the mixture began to drop precipitously. Given several moments processing time, Asyrax was forced to work with what it had already been able to absorb, breaking it down as rapidly as possible. Asyrax calculated insufficient quantity for primary goals- but enough to effect molecular structure repairs, at least.

The mix being absorbed currently required far less processing, almost 80% pure marianasium, and Asyrax went to work processing that, too, on a priority schedule...

Kronos snarled in confusion as he felt his toy start to -impossibly- grow. What in the actual heck was going on today? Why could none of these creatures just get with the program and die? Well, there was only one thing to do. Biting down harder and digging his teeth into the scaly abomination, he dove down lower and began to flail his head, smashing Thanatos over and over again into his home's rocky bottom...

Cairo, Egypt

Valse's eyes widened at the sight of the city, it was far larger than he expected the human race to grow. But that soon led to a thought about the more humans they are, the more he could eat. He made his first steps into the city, his talons stepping onto the streets and shaking off the grainy sand. He could have sworn that he felt another being was there before. Perhaps they could have scattered away when they sensed him coming. He did feel it fade as he got closer. Nonetheless, he continued his assault on the city.

He spotted a small crowd of humans running away from afar. Valse's jaws started to mash together, getting excited over the thought of eating after what seemed like an eternity of sleeping. He felt the repugnant gas start to leak from the corners of his mouth, floating upwards into the dry sky. He slowly opened his mouth wide, letting the gas spew from his mouth. Dark red globs of flesh were accidentally flown out, crashing into the streets and buildings. The gas blanketing the lower levels quickly, spreading through the entire block. The group of humans running away were suddenly stopping in their tracks, starting vomit excessively. Valse turned his head sideways and lunged forward, grabbing all but few of the humans.

His tail moved towards his mouth, the gigantic human eye witnessing the feast of Valse. He continued to chew on his meal until they were like mush. He tilted his head back, letting the remains fall back into his throat. Most of his eyes closed, trying to experience the pleasure better that way. Using his fatty black tongue, he started to peel away some of the left over meat from his uneven teeth. Letting out a small, satisfied bird like call, Valse opened all of his eyes and began to search for more meat to satisfy his never ending hunger.

The many eyes on his belly spotted a few stragglers, with most of the running as soon as the eyes noticed them. Valse quickly roared out, sitting down to squash the people beneath him. After a moment, he rolled over onto his side, looking at the bloddy scene. He righted himself back up on his six legs and walked over to the splattered remains. He started to lick up the remains, taking a good amount of time eating while his tail was smashing into nearby buildings to crush even more people. The dead skin along Valse's body ever so slowly start to regenerate. This only the beginning for Valse's purge on humanity.

Thanatos’ gambit had paid off somewhat, as he grew more and more, Kronos’ jaw slackened in growing surprise at his prey’s growing size. This was what Thanatos needed , he grabbed onto the jagged floor of the molten pit and threw himself to the side, landing on his back, and therefore, on Kronos. Thanatos got to his feet and launched himself, pushing Kronos into the ground. Thanatos made a break for the surface and dashed out of the water...

Asyrax noted the re-emergence of the saurian predator with unexpected variables. The conflict between recorded mass and observed mass was resolved with a hypothesis that factored at a 97% probability of accuracy. The compound 'Ambrosia' was recharging Thanatos- closing its window of vulnerability and potentially enabling it to renew its devastating attack.

The existence of a competitor for the required compound would have accelerated the termination of Thanatos to the top of the priority tree, even had it not already been there. But preparations were incomplete.

Asyrax calculated the various inputs available to it- and even with processing power down to an inexplicable low, determined the optimum scenario. With the required ongoing processing entirely an internal affair, and the necessary external components moving into place with nearly-imperceptible slowness, there was no need for the exoframe to exert any kind of momentum. Asyrax elected for a complete cessation of all externally-radiated stimuli, primarily an absence of motion.

Statistical odds favored the saurian continuing its previous combat with the absence of distracting stimuli- particularly if its own primitive processors believed that the opponent it had left lying along the shoreline was already dead.

Thanatos was not in the mood to continue the fight, and he knew when to quit.
Rather than chance it by staying near the pool to recharge his Ambosia stocks, he decided to venture further inland, hoping to find more ambrosia there, and at less risk.

Asyrax noted the ascent of the native inhabitant of the molten lake just as its analysis indicated that initial processing was complete.

While the termination of Thanatos remained a high priority, its current lack of proximity and overpowered state made that course of action a less intelligent tactical choice.

There was something- an impulse that went beyond any of its processes- that compelled Asyrax toward pursuing that course of action nonetheless, but its processors asserted priority overrides, reshuffling the trees to combat and ultimately overcome the driving compulsion.

Instead, the lake's guardian had proved to be an irritant. When it surfaced, it would be time to put an end to that irritant, and resume its original priority directive.

Kronos scrabbled around blindly, groping with his snout, tentacles, and flippers alike, trying to find that stinking lizard. Kick him into the rocks, would it? Get loose and try to ruin his fun again, would it? NO. It wasn't going to get away with any of that crap, and he was going to find it and shove its head up its own-

Wait.

He paused, sound and vibration from above reaching his sensitive ears. Little coward. It had escaped the pool and was trying to run. Rage burning in his guts, he swore it wouldn't far.

Pushing off hard from the bottom, Kronos shot upward as fast as his ungainly bulk would allow, breaching the surface in a spectacular explosion of magma. His good eyes cracked hesitantly open as he surged ashore, blinking frantically and trying to adjust. He began shivering immediately, but he tried to ignore it, flailing around with his tentacles in search of-

Thunk.

One of his limbs slapped wetly against something hard, rough, and solid... and that was all he needed. Whether it was the lizard or the... other thing... he was going to make it suffer. With a roar of rage, he wrapped the tentacle tightly around Asyrax's left arm, siezed its right leg with his other tentacle, and dragged himself forward, trying to pull its 'head' down into his snapping jaws....

Asyrax 's inactivity strategy was abruptly interrupted by the seemingly-random actions of the emergent target. As its motionless body was hauled toward the predator's gaping maw, Asyrax calculated the status of the internal processing.

87.3621%.

Sufficient.

The required Ambrosia had been infused into its overall structure, repairing the instability damage and restoring its metabolism to nearly pre-battle levels. As such, Asyrax accelerated the necessary bodily extrusions, structures snapping into place even as jaws snapped uselessly around its now-hardened exterior. Approximately 12.32 seconds, and the transformation would be complete.

Kronos had until then to do as it would.

Thanatos stopped to gather his thoughts. He had escaped Kronos, whose only advantages were the hostile environment of the molten pool and his shrunken size. Now he had none of those. He looked towards the molten pool and saw Kronos had attacked Asyrax
Asyrax
The creature used the same power source as he did, making them rivals. Thanatos dug into a hill, extracting the Ambrosia in it. Rivals always wanted to kill eachother. He and Asyrax were no exception, but he would bide his time. Kronos was having too much fun with his new toy, so much that he might not even acknowledge the danger Asyrax posed and go for him instead. He would use his respite to gain as much power as he could
Little did Thanatos know that his respite was an inordinately long...
10 seconds

Then he looked elsewhere and saw trees rumble in strange way, as if something was floating through them. And then he saw a rose
Oh boy

Kronos gnawed and chomped for all he was worth, growling furiously all the while, but all he got for it was more stinking nothing. His teeth barely scratched the surface, there was no taste of flesh or blood, and the thing gave no sign at all that it was feeling any pain.

More frustrated than he'd ever been in his life, Kronos gave up and let go, glaring daggers at the hulking toy as it stood back up, looming over him, some kind of weird, blurry motion going on with its arms. This was it. Biting clearly couldn't do squat to this freak, but maybe- just maybe- another blast of his ray, point-blank to the face this time, would finally break it.

He opened his jaws wide, feeling the energy pulsing in his throat. Another second or two, and he'd finally get to hear Asyrax scream...

Redeployment complete.

Asyrax had already attempted, as a primary method of attack, projectile weaponry barrages. The style of attack seemed... ingrained in the pathways that had birthed it. However, the use of natural stone- or even denser materials, absorbed from the soil, or molecularly transmuted from available raw materials, had proved at best a minor source of harm for Thanatos in its enhanced form.

Asyrax's calculations on the full properties of the material 'Marianasium' were still ongoing- but even an incomplete map of the molecule indicated a density far greater than any raw material gathered thus far. And with the Ambrosia content of the lake locally diminished by Thanatos' absorption, it was far easier to refine. A significant quantity had already been stored.

With its barrel and firing mechanism reformed and their molecular structure stabilized, Asyrax unleashed it.

A fusillade of marianasium projectiles ripped into Kronos' open mouth, puckering the flesh around each sizable hole as the volley tore through its flesh, exiting for the other side. The burst was longer than Asyrax calculated was strictly necessary- two full seconds, ripping apart vital organs and making a hash of the kaiju's inner workings.

The cannon fell silent, Kronos' gaping mouth flopped closed as it settled onto the shoreline, deflating-

Calculating the location of the creature's primitive brain, Asyrax unleashed a second volley, just to be certain, turning the brain-pan into gristly carrion.

Nearly 2/3 of its stores spent, Asyrax ceased firing, and began processing the data of the termination; analysis and extrapolation should allow for a far more economical use of the material in future executions.

Full biped form restored, Asyrax approached the slowly-cooling corpse and hefted it overhead. Having already taken measure of its composition and density, it paused only momentarily before returning the creature to its natural habitat with a colossal, molten splash.

The effect of the molten materials on its now-exposed inner tissues should provide useful data for further analysis of kaiju density.

Several extrusions extended from Asyrax's legs, and into the molten pool. It began the slow process of siphoning, processing, and refining. At the same time, it took note of proximate movement at the clearing's edge; active sonar indicated that Thanatos had halted his flight... though Asyrax calculated good odds of his resumption if he perceived what had just occurred. There was another large form, currently unknown, in motion as well.

That was acceptable; Asyrax calculated sufficient marianasium stores remaining for another termination with overkill, if necessary.

In the meantime, it would take several hours of siphoning from the lake to withdraw enough Ambrosia to fully complete its primary objective- and in the process, reach full saturation on marianasium for ongoing offensive purposes. And when that was complete- or sooner, should either of the forms in the forest elect to approach- Asyrax could commence work on its secondary, soon to be new-primary, objective: the termination of all kaiju.

As the rose in the forest continued to advance, Thanatos elected to keep a low profile instead.
Asyrax had proved itself to be one of the most fearsome creatures he knew of, he was not going to flee, he needed to know everything he could about his opponent.
Kronos` quick dispatch could have been a one off or a matter of circumstance. The rose, Bioterror, would prove whether that is the case. Until then, he would observe.
Bioterror levitated through the trees, he would be there shortly, to take on this huge thing that it wanted to kill...

Ignus Lung had successfully countered Tyrosus, at least for the moment, and intended strike the ursine monster in the back, when Ignus remembered why he was fighting in the first place. In mid-flight, the earthly fire-dragon expanded his senses, upon locating & gauging how far away Tekuta and the others were, he concluded that they would likely be out of range of the bear's powerful energy beam.

With his old friend and their new frigid ally's safety assured for the moment, The Monster of Myth opted to leave the Rex of the North's vicinity as quickly as possible.

Nearly colliding with Tyrosus's back in the few moments that Ignus spent determining his friend's (and Sangrazotz's) position, in a showing of his aerial skill, the red & gold dragon tucked his head under his body, Turning his body upside down in order to begin flying away from his mighty foe.
Before he fully concluded turning however, Ignus Lung made sure to slam his tail onto the ground, bringing up a cloud of debris, hoping to distract his foe with it.
With his entire 400 foot body flying barely 20 feet off the ground, Ignus reoriented himself upright before flying away from Tyrosus at Mach 4.

As the Gold-clad monster made his retreat, he winced at the air pressure doing his chest wound no favors, putting his clawed left hand over the injury in an attempt to sooth the pain.
"It will heal" Lung thought stoically to himself, ignoring the pain he felt with each breath. Although the wounded flesh was already scabbing over and beginning the process of undoing the damage, it would take several days for his golden armored plates to fully mend.

If he could find a good source of heat or electricity within that time, his chest could fully heal within a few minutes, and if he got to a volcano, it would only take a few seconds.

Ignus's mind wasn't on healing however, it was focused on regrouping with Tekuta, explaining the horrible dream he once had to him, questioning his icicle of a counterpart (if & when she had the energy to answer him), and possibly warding off Sangrazotz if needed.

Then again, perhaps "Focus" isn't the right word to use when referring to the usual mind of Ignus Lung, nevertheless, the superheated dragon did so once again, relinquishing his many thoughts to bring up at a more appropriate time.

At his current speed, it wouldn't take long for Ignus to reach the others, assuming Tyrosus doesn't try to take one more potshot at him.

Asyrax remain still as a statue, no external indication but it was aware of the unknown Kaiju-form's approach. Its siphons continued to pump molten material from the lake, separating out the materials internally.

Remaining processed Marianasium content was redirected into the form of projectiles. If the entity elected to continue its approach, it would be exterminated.

As Bioterror reached the molten pool, a crash was heard. Thanatos observed intently as Bioterror reared up it's tentacles tilted it's flower, and unleashed multiple beams of ambrosia towards Asyrax, who was across the pool.
Location: Indian Ocean
Epizona stopped mid flight and turned around. Something was happening on Marianas Island. She groaned internally. At least the fight she was going to (Somewhere to the north-west) seemed to have stopped. She felt one telepathic signature change(not worth checking but still strange) and then one disappear. It seemed as though this strengthened signature had began battling the other kaiju there, and that was worth checking out.

British Columbia

The unmistakable thunder of a sonic boom shook the countryside. Sangrazotz stiffened, thoughtlessly whirling around to look for its source, and the crystalline head, neck, and forelimbs that had been draped over his shoulders flopped limply to the ground with a series of dull clunks. A muffled chirp of protest followed as Tekuta, now bearing the stranger's full weight, collapsed beneath her. Sangrazotz ignored them, focusing instead on the sound of trees exploding into crackling flame in the distance, and an orange glow growing brighter over the next rise-

All too suddenly, Ignus Lung burst dramatically into view, bearing down on him at entirely too high a rate of speed.

Seized by panic, the red-eyed demon instinctively spread his wings and began to frantically flap, only to cry out and topple to the earth as red-hot pain tore through his injured membrane. Realizing that escape was nothing like an option, Sangrazotz dove back to the crystal dragon's side and slipped beneath one of her wings, covering as much of his body as possible with the translucent surface. His confidence somewhat restored, he peered as defiantly as his ignoble position allowed up at the hovering Monster of Myth. There was no way Lung would risk an attack while the helpless female and his crustaceous comrade were in the line of fire... was there?

Dismayed- and pinned, the weight only partially alleviated by Sangrazotz's cowering form- Tekuta called out to his ally. He couldn't tell whether the impact had been a deliberate attack- a very unfortunate resumption of old grudges threatening to destroyed the truce he had brokered- or a mere accident of Ignus' over-exuberant flight not looking where he was going. He thought it best to try and defuse the situation as rapidly as possible in either case. The ingenue was still in danger.

"Ignus, thank the powers you escaped! We must put some distance between all of us and Tyrosus, yes? Together?"
*****
The center of Marianas Island

Crackling beams of dazzling energy arced out from tentacle-tips to slam into Asyrax with blinding force.

Asyrax rocked back under the kinetic force, but otherwise remained imobile.

Ambrosia levels at 97%.

327%.

1032%.

Saturation reached. Processing.

The discharge ended; Asyrax's glossy black exterior glowed. But not the golden-red of the molten lake behind it; rather, a fading, pure-white aura as the energy suffused it, absorbed into its matrix.

Processing complete. Primary objective, complete. Re-prioritizing.

New primary objective: eliminate all Kaiju.

Excepting one.

For several long seconds, Asyrax stood immobile, locked in a processing conflict. The unknown form had been extremely helpful- though almost certainly unintentionally so. Hours of mining and processing had been saved. The biological matrix which had been unstable since Asyrax's formation had fully been stabilized.

It had no further need of ambrosia. The only reason to remain at the lake was to absorb further marianasium for use as ammunition. However, that was far from a necessity, as pure sources that would not require refinement away from Ambrosia could almost certainly be found.

As such, this interloper had proved beneficial and did not appear to require termination with prejudice. In fact, despite its unusual construction, it did not register fully as a Kaiju. Arguably, it did not require termination at all.

At the same time, an inbuilt impulse that also dated back to Asyrax's creation, deeply ingrained on its most basic sense of self, carried a compulsion that could not be logically processed. The directive to terminate Kaiju was reinforced by an overpowering condition-loop, the root logic of which Asyrax could not untangle. It simply fell back upon itself, reinforcing, demanding that Kaiju be terminated.

That same unquantifiable drive found the plant form before it to be sufficiently similar to a kaiju to warrant the same treatment.

Attempting to resolve this conflict and determine its forthcoming actions toward the mobile foliage, Asyrax remained immobile.

Post by Billzilla1974 »

No sooner than Ignus had focused on reaching his allies, he spotted them, closer to the battlefield than he would've hoped, but Tyrosus wasn't as much of a problem now as the one he now faced.
Stopping.
The burning dragon did his best to correct his mistake, but his inertia was too great for him to stop quickly enough. Mere seconds to impact Ignus spread his arms and hands wide, shutting his eyes, turning his head to his left, bracing for the inevitable.

The impact, while not as bad as it could've been, wasn't pleasant for anyone involved.
The shock of pain from his chest wound briefly knocked the wind out of Ignus Lung, however the injured titan managed to recognize who he had crashed into, and immediately levitated away from her, trying to avoid burning her unintentionally.
Breathing heavily, the Monster of Myth eyed the mysterious stranger, who he found was still unconscious, he hoped she would make it.
Ignus wanted to ask about who she was, and where she came from, for he had never known anyone who resembled him, despite her contrasting elements, as much as she did.

The crimson kaiju wondered if Tekuta had the same questi-
Tekuta!
Ignus quickly began to search for his ally, peering under one the ice dragon's wings, he found Sangrazotz instead.
The Alaskan reptile, avoiding proper eye contact, opened his mouth to question him, but halted when he heard a noise from beneath the stranger's prone frame and sure enough, Lung found his crustaceous ally, barely holding up the stranger's body.

"Ignus, thank the powers you escaped! We must put some distance between all of us and Tyrosus, yes? Together?" Tekuta said, hoping to save their new ally, and prevent Ignus from attacking Sangrazotz.

Ignus took a moment to sigh with relief that his friend was alright, before thinking about the proposal. As much as the glowing creature hated working with Sangrazotz, the thought of leaving someone so similar to him to die didn't sit well with him.

"Alright, I'll do my best." Ignus replied, agreeing to undertake the task of transporting their low temperature ally to a safer place.

Ignus Lung began to concentrate his energy, under ordinary circumstances, the fire dragon usually couldn't do anything about the access heat that radiated from every inch of his form, but ironically, the very injury Tyrosus had inflicted on him would prove to be a blessing in disguise.

After a few moments of mental strain, Lung had successfully redirected the flow of energy within his body, sending the access energy to his chest wound.
This action would not only heal his injury more quickly, reducing the regeneration time to roughly 3 days, but in the meantime this caused Ignus's scaled skin to cool to a more tolerable temperature.

With his scaled turning into a dark red, almost looking like a living pile of hot coals, Ignus Lung carefully grabbed the stranger with his now cooled-off hands and feet.
