King Kong vs Godzilla online comic

Postby gojira012 » Tue Aug 31, 2010 7:26 pm

I remember quite a while ago on the website American Kaiju used to run a remake comic of King Kong vs Godzilla the art was great, though the plot while entertaining and imaginative, was pretty well for lack of a better word "bonkers". Now this was before the Peter Jackson epic, It starts at the end of the original 1933 King Kong with some kind of shadow group taking Kong's body who turns out to still
be alive and exposed to a nuclear bomb(on Purpose) and he grows to Godzilla size. Don't believe me? Check out American Kaiju yourself and see.

I remember reading this comic once. I hope American Kajiu will finish the Tristar 94 Godzilla comic soon since it feels like it been like forever for a new chapter to be release.

Now this sounds interesting and it could kind of makes some sense connecting the two series.

Well what do you think? Not my favorite Godzilla design but 30's Kong super sized (while how he got supersized being silly) got Toho Kong beat

I still wish this comic along with the 94 comic would be finish one day. It feels like it takes forever for them to finish it.

I think Todd Tennant just plain didn't care anymore and gave up

If you really think that, you think wrong.
Here are the facts:

Todd Tennant tried to find publishers for both KK vs G and the G'94 gn, but Toho would not negotiate.
Nothing new. Originally, KK vs. G was supposed to be a continuing series in G-FAN, but Toho nixed it right after the first episode (#58)
I have to make a living like you & everyone else does, and have simply "moved on".
Here's where I've moved to:

I'm hoping that those who still support me will enjoy the new AMERICAN KAIJU comics series
& buy the comics (or the gn which will come out later) when Blue Water publishes them.

I really dig the G94 comic but I haven't checked on it in a while.

Thanks man.

We (Blue Water & I) tried our best to get my American Godzilla '94 online gn published.
As it was in the past, Toho would not even return Darren's (many) calls to say "no thank you".
OK....fair enough. I've accepted this, but there's an old definition of "insanity", which defines that state of mind
as "repeating the same thing over & over... getting the same bad results each time, but expecting otherwise"
(not a direct quote, but you get the picture).

Other than what was already said in my last post, I'll part from this thread with this:
If anyone who has the funds and clout ever wants to see KK vs. G or G'94 published bad enough to
get a deal done with Toho, I'm all ears...

Otherwise, please do keep an eye out for my new American Kaiju Comics website,
coming soon.
peace,
Todd

^ why did you post on a 3-month old thread without any significant news?

that said, I hadn't seen this thread before, and I'll just say this:

"I couldn't make money off of it" is a really silly reason to cancel a fan series. This guy is lucky Toho even let him exist.

A fan series is something you do for fun, not for a living. I don't see why making a profit suddenly became an issue so close to the end, but his original stories look interesting, and I may check them out.

The artwork is far superior to your normal fan's artwork, it is good enough to warrant a paycheck.

It doesn't matter. Fanart is fanart, you can't sell something that isn't legally yours.
The fact that he did as much as he did in the first place means he actually wanted to do the project, even if he wasn't paid. My assumption is he stopped because he reached a point where he didn't care enough about the projects to do them for free.

That's why he moved on, and it's probably for the best that he's developing original stories and characters now, I just wish he finished what he started at some point instead of abandoning it completely.

What gives you the right to expect me to finish anything, when you've shown absolutely no appreciation for my work?
I don't answer to Toho, and I certainly do not answer to you. For the record, I never tried to sell any of my Toho fan-art.
If you read my posts more carefully, you would already know that.
Tell you what, I won't presume to tell you what to do with your life and don't ever presume to tell me what to do with mine.
That is a concept that those of us who are not haters understand and attempt to live by.

whoa... little snappy there.
Don't try to be something else. Don't try to be less. Great things are going to happen in your life. Great things. And with that will come great responsibility.

There have been some great online kaiju comics, Todd's work included. I remember there was this one, I believe it was called Kaiju Island? It would be great if somebody had the link to it.
